Getting a little tired of this what appears to be a bug.

Let me ask, is anyone else experiencing this:

And let me state the following for clarity:

*I have no bounty with a clean slate and no notoriety ANYWHERE in the bubble.

*I land at a settlement, probably about 200 meters away in a safe zone, without violating sanctions.

*I have no contraband, I have no e-breaches, I just arrived.

*I'm doing a mission to steal something without setting off alarms. (I am not unfriendly or enemy with the target faction)

*I break into the CMD center, NO ONE SEES ME... NO ONE IS EVEN ALERTED.

*I'm not in a restricted area, not even alerted to it.

*I walk into the building a little away from the break in area and then get seen by either a guard or a worker.

*Suddenly they turn hostile and begin firing. (The guard didn't even bother scanning me) Chaos ensues and I'm left with deciding to murder everyone and try and stop the alarm before I fail the mission or running away and giving up.

Someone tell me what is going on? Why for the love of god am I getting attacked at settlements suddenly, on a whim as if either some hidden bounty on me just flared when I haven't incurred any sanctions or bounties. This has happened multiple times, in different buildings, around NO WHERE I could have possibly been seen doing something such as opening a panel or stealing something. Is there some hidden crime I'm committing that I'm not aware of?

EDIT: I should add this always seems to happen at Federation controlled Settlements. Even though I am allied with the main faction and max rank.

EDIT 2: I should also add that I have had this happen even without breaking in and got cleared though with a cloned profile. Again not in a restricted area. I got attacked one time just walking through a Hydroponics area.

Probably would need a video to work that out. Only thing it could be is someone seeing the broken door, and seeing you close to it - but that doesn't often happen.

I'd love to, but it's very random and I'm not always prepared to suddenly record the instant it happens as I have no idea WHEN it could happen. I'll have to see about setting time aside to make a video, which is why I'm trying to find out if it happens to anyone else.

I would've figured as well it's because I was near the broken door, but again I know I've been able to stand inside an airlock after breaching it and guards and workers dont bat an eyelash so it's very inconsistent.

Yeah, I've seen them get their guns out and look around if they do spot anything, but that's just a guess - as you say they often don't spot anything is up - hope someone else has a better idea (y)

Yeah they don't even get their guns out and investigate it's straight up "I wanna bot'le yer face guv."

Me too, it's very frustrating to have to either accumulate a large bounty and notoriety on a stealth mission simply because someone decided to go barmy and attack me for no reason. If I wanted that I'd just go do PvP.

Gun unholstered?

Did anything to set off alarms (even if they have already turned off)? Such as downloading prohibited data, disabling defenses by cutting the panel and overloading, shooting a skimmer…!

Just spitballin' here, but did you cut into a panel before turning the alarms off? I think that triggers the alarm.

Maybe, I hadn't considered this. But I've never seen it usually as a problem

@Alien.

Only a few small areas are actually "restricted access" you can still walk around some of the building without issues, This isn't happening in those areas. Even then they should be warning me with a sanction first before opening fire.

@Slick PBW.

I did not, didn't access anything except for going into the CMD after cutting my way in unseen. Stepped into the room adjacent which wasn't restricted access with everything holstered. Even then I would've been warned for having a gun out first and given a sanction before being fired upon, not even getting that.

My bounty just got cleared and my notoriety is now 0 so I'm going to try and see if I can record it happening this time.

If guard NPC see you in a security zone they are triggered. If civilian NPCs see in a security zone they will 'say hello'. There are security zones 1-3.

Then there are the restricted zones which are clearly marked with the digital banner. In these zones civilian NPCs will also be alarmed when they see you.

Was there a message "they have been tipped off and know that you are coming"? ~If so, they will shoot on sight.

If I misremember, someone correct me, but if caught in a restricted zone, do you get ordered to leave, or is it you get once chance when drawing a weapon?

Steve

You can normally leave the restricted zone immediately, but just once. It's an additional get out of jail card like drawing a weapon. Also shows up in red on your HUD once used.

One bad thing about the forums - all the people ignoring the question and just guessing stuff. Not just you.

This is worse:

Pure garbage and totally wrong.

Yeah I had tested that and cutting the panel and overloading it doesn't trigger any alarms. Still trying to replicate it in a video but I just botched my last mission by getting my apex shuttle shot down to an alerted base :p

Kinda annoying the guy is dead and you can still fail despite respawning? Eh whatever.

One thing about the forums is that there are always idiots like you. We were just trying to help op, save your "well akshalllly" for someone else.

I break into the CMD centers all the time, either by scanning a profile or cutting my way in. It's common that some guard will want to scan me but I've never encountered them going hot without provocation. I've even stood just outside the restricted zone and they didn't seem to mind other than some snarky comments.

btw it's pretty simple to get on the roof and scan the level 3 NPC that comes to the window, they won't even see you if you only can see their feet. It would be interesting if you did that a few times to see if you get the same response.

Yeah this is essentially the usual process I get as well. There just seems to be an anomaly where they just started shooting without warning I'm trying to figure out why.

I'd guess they saw you in a part of the building that's restricted ... I mean, you did say this:

Just guessing here.
He also said this "*I'm not in a restricted area, not even alerted to it."

If he entered a restricted area and someone was there, they'd warn him pretty quick. It's amazing how passive the NPCs are sometimes.

I noticed yesterday that when I killed a guard a good distance away, outside using both a suppressor and audio masking, unseen, an NPC in another building, through the window I was watching, drew their firearm.
