The effects of the recent disappointing news have worn off for me I'd say. No offline mode is kind of a bummer, though it wont stop me from playing. And the fact that the game is likely going to launch with a list of missing features sucks, but it's something I've suspected for awhile now (though I hoped so very much that I'd be wrong).
As my first post ever here I'd just like to say... It's happening. The 22nd is nearly upon us. Even if we don't get much more than what we've seen in beta, we will still be getting one of the best space dogfighting games of all time, and I don't say that lightly. Being born in 1985 my experience with the original Elite was limited at best. I remember my dad having it, and I remember playing it. A friend introduced me to Frontier Elite 2 a few years after its release and my mind was blown. I spent a long time on that game. And later I spent another long stretch of time playing Frontier First Encounters. At this point I've played just about every major/somewhat major Elite like game made. And out of all those other games, if we look only at the combat, Elite: Dangerous wins hands down in my opinion.
So, even with the blow that we've taken in regards to our offline mode and our missing features. Those of us that are still able to play, are going to have the most fun we've ever had shooting the ever living s*** out of eachother/NPCs. It may grow stale after a while, but hopefully by then some of those missing features will be creeping their way back in.
See you guys out there.
