Getting into a tin of Spaghetti without a tin opener.

So I see this and think wow this is awesome, I wonder how close I can get before I am sucked into oblivion?

Disapointedly the answer is 'Until that invisible wall bounces you off'. 'What?'

Do we have an official answer from FD as to why black holes are harmless? I don't want it, it makes me, and everyone that see's it, go meh.

Really! And recently I was keeping my distance out of fear! Very disappointing.

This sort of thing is fundamental to the game. Come on FD, stop mucking about with combat modules etc. and sort this sort of thing out. This is a space game so space stuff matters.

How do you know ? if it's a assumption or theory it's not enough to conclude that they're dangerous.
Facts are both theory and practice, for now we just have a slice of theory, nothing more

We know more than you realise it seems. Read "A breif history of time" by Stephen Hawkins, the second part of that book explains black holes in detail. The first part is a summary of everything else. It's a good read.

Eh? We know they have gravity high enough to prevent light from escaping. We know how gravity affects objects. It's safe to say that if you found yourself anywhere near one in a space ship that you would be absolutely screwed.

If Frontier did anything that could kill you when you do something so terribly stupid like get too close to a BH, their support team would get swamped with even more demands for anaconda refunds.

Well, since even light is being sucked, how can we observe them ?
Hawking is a smart guy, but i'm sure he's not certain that they are how he describe them.

It's probably dangerous, but we don't know.
Maybe they are not what we think.

Few hundreds years ago, everyone thought earth was flat and the sun was orbiting around the earth. Scientists were sure about this because it's what they conclude after watching the stars and making theories.

Briefly, i'm not saying they're are harmless, i'm saying we know very little about them.

Aint that the truth. I remember BH used to fry you to death in the early game. It seems that BH's have been nerfed!

If even black holes can't kill you. The most powerful force in the galaxy. What's the point!!

We don't observe them directly, we observe them by observing their effect on the things around them. We know there's a black hole at the centre of the Galaxy. We know this because we can observe stars in orbit around an object who's gravitational effect on the surrounding stars is such that it could only be produced by the phenomena we understand to be a black hole. When you're sat in your house and you look out of the window and you see trees bending over you know it's really windy outside. You can't observe the wind directly, but you can observe it's effect on the environment. It's a bit like that.

LOL, mate, seriously. Do some research.

Because FD do not want any danger in the game, just in case complete muppets start to cry it is too hard.

Maybe invisible giants pull on them and then run away when we go out to look at them! ;)

It's easy to explain why they are not a danger for us.
1. No one ever came back to tell his story of whats happen in there.
2. No one ever were close enough to the event horizon.
3. Our hardware only supports 3 dimensions, in a black hole we have (possibly) 4 or even more dimensions.
4. skipped
5. Its all black, we need some hollywood effects in the game...so you can tell your friends....hey i survived the black hole.
6. The name Black Hole sounds like a pron movie from the 80's lol
