Getting legs whilst exploring

I was thinking about heading off in what would be a long trip during which time Odyssey will land. Do commanders need to be in the bubble in order to benefit from the walking on planets update? Will I need to get an exploration suit from somewhere?

You do have your basic Remlok suit you can walk around in. But you will need to buy equipment for it to make full use of it. They did no say if you start out with some basic equipment by default. And while they did mention there will be exploration content with scanning lifeforms, they have not made any details available as of yet.

The suit you will need will suddenly be in that closet next to the airlock. You know - the closet you didn't know was there they day before.

Seriously, this close to the release, I'd just wait a bit before departure. I usually take a "vacation" around January anyway so I'm going to be right here in the bubble, giving Odyssey a little extra "beta test" once it's released. No sane person ever buys 1.0 software. I'll wait a bit and see if a patch is coming first.

Don’t forget you can accidentally self distruct then respawn / rebuy at your nearest station then if your still not in the bubble you can - accidentally- buy the cheapest ship, then, accidentally self destruct that, but rather than rebuy select start again in the bubble in a sidewinder. Of course you can then simply get your old ship delivered back to your location in the bubble.

so becareful if you’ve got the credits to be that forgetful and accident prone.
