Getting near the end of my pilgrimage.

At the start, I was a little disappointed that I wasn't beginning in Lave where the original began. After flying around a bit, I punched up Lave in the nav computer just to see where it was. Given the tiny jump range of my Sidewinder, it seemed a long way off. So I started doing missions, exploring, and trading always with the goal of moving in the general direction of Lave. I've slowly built up my ship, won some fights and run from others. Had some close calls but always managed to survive. Last night before logging off, I did my daily check for Lave. Was surprised to see the route planner option no longer greyed out! I'm less than 50 ly away with a definite path to get there!

I plan to retire the sidewinder when I get there and get into something nicer to make money a little faster. Thinking of going with the Adder. Hauler seems too under gunned. I might try some mining since I haven't touched that yet. I have over 100k right now and some more money in ship upgrades. Ultimate goal is to get back into a Cobra. At my rate of play, that may be a while.... :)

This is the most fun I've had with a computer game in a long time. I'm not making money as fast as some, but I get a lot of enjoyment from just flying the ship, executing a perfect docking approach, or watching a pirate tumble and explode. Just looking around with my TIR in the middle of space is enjoyable.

Hope to see you out there.

Something to bear in mind with the route planner is that the further away you are, the longer you have to wait for it to find a path - it seems the system checks EVERY single system in an ever increasing circle for jump paths, so depending on where you are and how dense the stars are, it can take a long time for it to ever find a route.

There certainly needs to be some tweaking of this....at the very least you should be able to design your own routes and then save them.
