Getting real tired of this buggy bounty hunting.

So sick and tired of hunting wanted targets at the nav beacon only to have the goddamn system security turn and blast me to hell and back for no reason. This marks the fourth time now I've been killed due to this, and it needs to be fixed asap. The targets are wanted, period. I see no signs of them being friendly to the current system, and even if they are they are WANTED. I should not be wasting time, credits and patience trying to avoid getting blown up by the system security.

And you know, cause I love floating in space for five minutes because the buggy system security blew out my cockpit as well as my engines so I'm forced to sit and wait watching the oxygen counter count down. At least put a damn self-destruct in, or some way to get them working.

There is a self destruct in the right hand panel isn't there?

I've not personally experienced this problem, as I bounty hunt in Anarchy systems with a kill warrant scanner. No security to worry about there. Are you sure you're not hitting a clean target with stray shots or something similar? It's very easy to do if you're not careful.

How do you find the targets in anarchy space?
It's always empty for me when I go to them.

As a long time nav beacon lurking bounty hunter I can confirm this does happen. Safest bet is to super cruise out when the sec def turn hostile and re enter. Becoming friendly with the locals first helps.

[edit] oops, didn't mean to quote anyone there.

Turn off the "Auto report crimes against me" in the right panel... otherwise the first time someone shoots your ship, it automatically calls the cops for help.

There are some big, high populated anarchy systems with alot of trafic, you only need to find the right one, equip your kill warrant scanner and you are ready to go, most of the ships there have at least some bounty and 99% of them are payable by main factions, so its really easy to collect them.

This is a "known" bug as in it's known to the fans but so far i've seen no dev acknowledgement of it. What happens is you attack an NPC who is wanted, and the system security of HIS SPECIFIC FACTION will attack you. You'll note that it's not all system security, and you don't have a bounty, it's just that since they share a faction the faction always triggers aggro for any nearby allies, regardless of whether the victim is wanted or not. The devs for some reason didn't put in a trigger on wanted enemies that states "When I am wanted, do not trigger aggression for allied forces in the instance."

But then if someone (clean) attacks you, you'll get a wanted status if you defend yourself, so be sure you remember it is switched off.

Hello Commanders!

We're aware that something is occasionally going awry with system security forces. The result is that you can sometimes aggro authority ships even when attacking a wanted vessel.

We're looking into this - annoyingly it's an intermittant issue, making it harder to track down - and as soon as we get a fix we'll let everyone know.

In the mean time, if you find yourself under attack from the police after legitimately attacking a felon: jump to super cruise or make a hyperspace jump - do not fight back, as this would constitute committing a crime.

If it helps you tracking down this issue. I've found this only happens in Nav Beacons and rarely in USS's. Mineral Extraction zones don't seem to trigger this (been to a LOT of them, and never had an issue there).

Apologies for the rant. It's just frustrating sometimes having something like this happen, then be stuck waiting to die. I am glad, however, that the devs know of the issue and are trying to pinpoint it.

@Toffa - Do you seem to bring in some good money at the RES? Nav beacon is good because it always has a constant flow or incoming and outgoing traffic. I've never checked the RES, but if it has a constant flow of traffic it may be worth it.

@prasak - How would I go about doing that? I'm stuck down by Neto at the moment, but I'm sure I could find some anarchy systems. I tried the KWS before, but then again it was at a nav beacon and no new information ever seemed to pop up. I'm sure the best money is being made out in the anarchy systems, really.

Or get yourself an ironass with good shields and just ride the attacks out. Most security vessels don't have all that awesome weaponry.

However, there is a system near LHS 331 (I forget which one, another star catalogue name) where system security were flying horribly beweaponed anacondas. That was truly terrifying. You had to bet my fire discipline while trying to take out the wanted ship that time was absolutely impeccable...

It's not intermittent, it's after taking out 2 to 4 wanted ships even with a friendly faction and is a real pain in the ***

Until you can fix this issue, why not remove security vessels from nav beacons altogether in the meantime. It would save players from a lot of grief until the issue is fixed.

When i bounty hunt in anarchy systems i dont get any bounty in the mission tab.

Ja. It was utterly relentless for me since beta 2.0 I think and it was everywhere I went. I remember killing one little Sidewinder at a resource extraction site and being set upon by something like 7-8 ships immediately and without mercy. I died :( Nav beacons became a right pain in the bottom also. They'd all pile into me. Constant. For ever. I simply got used to having to grab what little bounties I could before making a run for it.

Actually I can't remember it happening recently but I only do USS now (because of the above).

Another thing which annoys me is when a stray shot makes you get a wanted rating and all the local ships turn on you. Please can you factor in where stray shots don't makes the 'good' ships go insane. Even older Elite style games Hardwar and the X series had this factored in. The odd stray shot didn't make them go berserk.

Thanks. :)

Even when it's working correctly there's confution about what's going on.

Would be nice for the HUD, as well as showing that you're wanted and the size of the bounty, but to also show a list of all the infractions making up that bounty in reverse time order.
