Getting rescued by the fuel rats was one of the best experiences I've had so far in elite.

If you've read one rescue story, you've pretty much heard this before.

I know about the fuel rats. "That sounds cool." I thought to myself. "I don't have a lot of time right now, but at some point, maybe I'll sign up." But I also thought "I actually watch my fuel gauges. I'll never need their help."

Whelp.

I was flying out to Robigo to engage in some heinous smuggling when I realized I was running low on fuel, and the star I was at was unscoopable. Thats fine. The next will will be scoopable. I thought. Nope. Not only that, but I managed to completely drain my hyperspace tank and drop down to half my reservoir. "Well..." I thought. ":):):):)." I flew away from the star, shut off a few systems, and headed to the fuelrats website. (If you need help...go here: http://fuelrats.com/)

"Halp" I said. I was impressed, they had a bunch of macros telling me to turn off all my systems. So I did. And I waited. I have never totally shut down my ship in elite before. I was actually really impressed with the ice that grew on my windshield, refracting the star near by.

The hero fuel rat came incredibly quickly, my fuel was restored enough to limp to a nearby star. I started turning system back on...and I was again impressed. The ship...suddenly hummed to life in a way I wasn't expecting. It was almost emotional.

Long live the fuel rats. These guys deserve in game recognition for making this game more awesome.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go cram some slaves into my cargo hold.

The Fuel Rats are awesome. I recently started a second account so that I could still get to events while my main is out in the black. As a backer I had originally started in a Cobra, so didn't appreciate how difficult it was starting in a Sidewinder. I was keeping an eye on my fuel and planning my routes to re-fuel at stations frequently.... but then became distracted and made one jump too many. The Fuel Rats soon had me back on my way. :D

They saved my butt the other day. I messed up when planning my route, and ended up running 100% out of fuel with 15min left to go until the servers shut down for maintenance, and with less time than that left on my oxygen. The Fuel Rats were on it, and had me Fueled and docked at the closest station just in the nick of time. Awesome guys. Very friendly and impressively proficient at what they do.

Once I get further along in the game in terms of money and ships, I think I might sign up to be a Rat. My experience with them was that good.

They are one benefaction for the humanity. They will be very useful when we shall have to go to fight the Thargoids, far, very far from our civilization

:)

I am very much looking forward to the player-to-player cooperation that a far off war with the Thargoids would create. With this community, its going to be awesome.

Now, if I could only get a ship worth flying out into combat...haha

Yes ! The cooperation and the solidarity in this war will be without doubt exceptional. But there will be always the defectors

:)

Man, I hope a far off war with the thargoids becomes a thing, because I am all over that.

It would be awesome. And not to mention it would provide tons of content. Community goals to establish FOBs, supply management, coordinated pushes, etc. Not to mention Thargoids vs human Capitol ship battles :D

If I get the time I'll try to hammer out an outline of what an event like this could look like and post it up. I'd really like to see something like it happen.
