If you've read one rescue story, you've pretty much heard this before.
I know about the fuel rats. "That sounds cool." I thought to myself. "I don't have a lot of time right now, but at some point, maybe I'll sign up." But I also thought "I actually watch my fuel gauges. I'll never need their help."
Whelp.
I was flying out to Robigo to engage in some heinous smuggling when I realized I was running low on fuel, and the star I was at was unscoopable. Thats fine. The next will will be scoopable. I thought. Nope. Not only that, but I managed to completely drain my hyperspace tank and drop down to half my reservoir. "Well..." I thought. "

." I flew away from the star, shut off a few systems, and headed to the fuelrats website. (If you need help...go here: http://fuelrats.com/)
"Halp" I said. I was impressed, they had a bunch of macros telling me to turn off all my systems. So I did. And I waited. I have never totally shut down my ship in elite before. I was actually really impressed with the ice that grew on my windshield, refracting the star near by.
Thehero fuel rat came incredibly quickly, my fuel was restored enough to limp to a nearby star. I started turning system back on...and I was again impressed. The ship...suddenly hummed to life in a way I wasn't expecting. It was almost emotional.
Long live the fuel rats. These guys deserve in game recognition for making this game more awesome.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go cram some slaves into my cargo hold.
