getting rid of submit, boost, fsd without making escape impossible

There has been a lot of anger about this, many people calling it an exploit. Here's my proposed fix:

Give FSD interdictors a FSD disrupt feature. If the target is charging it's FSD up and you are close enough, disrupt the charge, sending the target's FSD into the same cooldown as if it had fought the interdiction. The interdictor needs a cooldown too, else the target would lose any chance to get away. Cooldown and range would need fine tuning, to make it an even battle also taking into account masslock.

I have some thought on this :

I also discussed it with Robert Maynard in the solo vs open discussion. If they do change it they need to do it after crime and punishment changes as it would become a death sentence otherwise.

For goodness sake leave it as it is, Traders need an escape route, and the only viable one other than Boost, Boost, FSD, is to go to Solo/Group, which
I believe is where many players have already gone!!

Until there is less PvP just for the sake of PvP and space battles I'd say leave it as it is. Or at least until the crime and punishment changes are implimented at least. I've been trying to do the community goal and I'm getting frequent interdictions from wings of Vultures who want to do nothing more than make my Anaconda blow up in a pretty way. Supercruising out is the only way to prevent the game becoming an irritation-fest.

Before I get told "go to solo!" let me make something clear. If people want to duke it out in contested systems or for roleplay reasons that's fine by me. If people want to stop me to pirate me, or because I have a bounty on my head they want to collect. Great! That's all part of the game. It's the "random encounter" aspect I deplore.

No need to fix things that are not broken, players that don't want to become a victim of another players game must have a means of escape.

Is a get out of jail free card really the best solution to this?

As an alternative to the OP's solution, how about a module that granted the submit -> escape mechanic to the ship? It could operate like shield generators do with regards to module rating/class vs. optimal and maximum weight requirements. Traders (or pirates too probably) could give up an internal for almost guaranteed interdiction escape.

I have to admit I like the idea, though I could see it being abused alot too... It becoming so common that people stopped even trying to interdict. I really like the idea but there would have to be a harsh limitation or penalty for such a piece of overpowered equipment. Maybe making it a ridiculous power drain. Maybe you should start a new thread :)

As for the OPs idea I don't like it. Traders, Noobs and such need a method of escape. You also make is sound like it's ridiculously easy to escape and maybe if you're chasing them down in a much slower ship it is. I've chased down and killed most of those who tried to run from me. But I bounty hunt so they usually fight and I'm using a cobra so I go fast XD

People are already giving up an internal for it, which means profits for traders. Maybe it can be ammunition based. If others like the idea I'll make a new thread.
