Newcomer / Intro getting the new vessel

So I bought a ship.
Now how do I "apply" insurance? There was no option to add any insurance to the purchase. How can I tell whether my vessel has got insurance or not?

If you go to ur hud menu 4 ( inside ur ship ) u see there is a insurancecost of 5% of what ur ship is worth.
You dont buy the insurance so to speak... U just pay to get it back.. if ur broke, u can borrow up to 600k and 10% of ur income is used as downpayment of ur debt

Yeah...the "insurance" in ED isn't like rl insurance where you pay premiums and then a deductible when a claim is made.

In game, the premiums either don't exist or are paid through some mechanism we don't know about and you just pay the 5% deductible in the event of a ship destruction. Try to never leave a star-port without having at least enough money to cover the insurance for whatever ship you are flying at the time.

yeah If u dont, its no danger ( unless its over 600k in insurance )
U see the exact cost if u press 4 in ur spaceship UI.

It would. It would be smarter to have enough in the bank to cover the 5% several times over, just in case....
