Getting wanted lvl by hitting wanted enemy before its scanned... really?!

Ok this is a bit annoying.

I see 5 ally AI ships hitting enemy ship.

Instead of waiting for scan to finish I press fire.

I get fine 200.

Then ship blow up

I get reward 50 000 cr

Then 5 ally ships fire on me for having 200 fine.

Now I have to run away from system for 8 min and come back later.

Every time I leave belt it resets. All enemies and allies dissapear and I have to start the belt routing from scratch.

Seriously guys. Not only belts resets but the entire process omg come on !

Let us have at least 10k bounty before the AI starts chasing and killing us.

Also remove that stupid wanted lvl for hitting enemy before I scan him. If he is wanted it should not matter if I scan him or not ! Wanted is wanted. sigh.

What if the target is clean and you only assumed he is wanted? And if I never actually scan a target, will I never get a bounty? Where is the problem to be patient a few more seconds?

Ok lets put it this way.

If there are 7 ships.

5 Federal navy

1 Me

1 Unknown.

And 5 of them hit the 1 unknow. THEN HE IS WANTED!

So. I should not need to scan him as its obvious !

Getting shoot by Federal ships by having 200 bounty its stupid. Its like stealing a 1£ candy in real live and then cops gunning u down with shotguns!

Jezus this forum is filled with so many fanboys that I dont even know why I bother writing the posts. From now on I'll just spam tickets. This is pointless.

And if its just me + target and I hit him without scan. I should NOT get automatic bounty. No1 would fking know I hit him. If he was wanted I very much doubt he would call police and tell them where I am trying to kill him either! Stupid stupid stupid. Its like thief being inside bank in the middle of the night stealing stuff and then me coming over and stealing stuff from thief. That thief would not call bloody police would he !?

This example seems somewhat one-sided. Let's assume that we have a similar situation - 5 ships that you haven't scanned (pirates) firing on an unknown that you haven't scanned (clean trader). And the 5 of them hit the 1 unknown. Then he is NOT wanted. So, you should scan him as it is NOT obvious. This forum is filled with so many complainers that don't want to spend 3 seconds to scan that I don't even know why I bother replying to these posts.

AS above - it is possible to drop into a USS and find a bunch of people fighting, none of whom are wanted. If you just pile in without scanning, you'll be in trouble.

I believe what he is saying is that the target was wanted as it said this on the left hand panel, but when he shot him he got a fine. I have done this many times over the past few months, it's like a lag issue or something.

But really, the ship is wanted and it says so, you fire on it and boom, you got a fine. None of this has to do with the kill warrant scanner, but rather that fact that if something is wanted and it says so on your panel, you should be able to shoot it without getting a fine.

That was at the bottom of his post, and he is right on that issue. You can be fined for firing on a target that IS wanted, and say's so in the panel.

Try not to think too deep OP......remember, this is a game based on 1984 game design.........if you think of it as no deeper than Pac-Man, you will be ok..........don't eat the big pill and all the ghosts want to kill you......eat the big pill, and you can eat the ghosts........
.
That is why, in your IMAGINATION, it makes sense for you to rush to your sides aid in a fight, in your mind you zoom on to the resuce or to help drive away invaders and criminals............but using 1984 "Game Logic" what it actually means is those you were running to help, actually turn on you and forget their target, as if a "switch" has gone off, which it has................"A mile wide and an inch deep"........

I have more of an issue with getting fined for firing on pirates before they're scanned when they're shooting AT ME.

Haha! Yes, happened to me last night too but I thought I was just stoned or something. But you are also right, this happens as well. They are shooting at you, and also wanted on your panels, and yet you shoot them and BANG! Fined and now you are wanted too. Awesome!

If that happens, it's a bug and should be reported.

Pretty much around 10x today I got wanted for shooting at wanted guy before my system scaned him and give me confirmation that he is wanted :(

And as to fines that needs to be adjusted. 200 fine should not allow police/federal forces to shoot and destroy you. Maybe for 6k after you kill some one. But until then they should just give u a ticked and let go.

Or...how about just finish scanning before firing? Innocent until proven guilty and all that...

Because this isn't exactly feasible with 5 ships firing on you (I think that's what he was implying). I had the same thing happen to me last night, although I didn't bother to hit record until chat bugged out and 1 NPC kept spamming the chat repeatedly, lol. 67k bounty in that sector...not sure how long it takes to wear off, but I'm pretty sure I have no pressing business there for the near future ;-)

But that shouldn't matter - if they are firing on you, you don't need to scan them, they will (should) become Wanted for firing on a Clean ship. OK, you have to take a hit, but that's quicker than scanning.

Okay, let's put it this way. When you scan a ship, you are doing it for the express reason to find out for sure that it is wanted.

If you haven't scanned the ship, you do not know for sure that it is wanted. And it is a crime in the Elite universe to open fire on a ship without first having established whether or not it is clean (that seems right to me). Nothing else matters. The person being shot at, whether or not they are a criminal, will report that as a crime. Any cops seeing you do it will consider you a criminal.

So you see five police ships firing on another ship. You decide to just jump in and open fire without first finishing your scan.

You just assumed the ship was wanted and opened fire. Imagine doing that today. You walk into a gunfight in which the police are involved. You just draw a gun and open fire on someone you assume is a criminal. Now what do you think the police are going to do? Do you really believe you wouldn't be treated as a criminal?

I agree. Also, the last time I put a bug report in on something like this is took 3 months before I even got a response.
