Geysers: Less Common than Bad Pilots

I've searched on various planets with geological activity listed, in the light and in the dark, in canyons and on mountains. I've spent about twelve hours in total looking for a geyser - just one - and so far, nothing. I've seen three crashed DBXs and two Condors, but no geysers. So, my question is: Where the heck do I find these things? Do they show up as POIs when flying above 2km, or what?
