Geysers - What am i doing wrong?

I select a planet that has silicate geyser volcanism, I drop from SC over canyons, then glide or drop and from glide and cruise until I see a blue POI. descend and try to centre the POI until I'm absolutely happy I'm in the right position. I then drop vertically until the POI indicator disappears at below 2Km. I land on then try to find the geyser that generated the POI indicator. Nothing, nada, zip, squat diddly...

Take off vertically on thrusters until @ 5Km, once over 2Km the blue POI indicator starts to appear which confirms I'm (theoretically) in the right place. Land on again, rinse and repeat with the same negative results...

Am I just geyser blind or is there something I'm missing (other than the bleedin' geysers)?

Thanks in advance,
Cmdr A

Not all POIs are volcanic. See previous ^^^^^post, but in any case if the planet is small enough, the gliding method is an overkill as it takes few minutes only to survey target areas.

Well, I wasn't doing anything wrong other than being impatient. Found my geyser field..
