General Giant derelicts Space frames and hulks

I've recently been playing EverSpace and one aspect of this game which i seem to really enjoy is encountering Giant dead structures floating in empty space which i get to explore seeking salvage.
These structures can be anything from giant dead star ship Hulls to massive hollowed out asteroids. Now in Elite Dangerous we already have Mega ships and Mega Structures, the latter of which have tunnels and nooks for ships to fly through. But what im suggesting is something else.

ED has the ship launched fighter mechanic, but i like idea of a salvage drone launched and controlled by the player who then uses it to fly into the derelicts seeking materials and salvage. The play has to leave their mother ship outside (Although depending on the derelict, smaller ED ships can mostly fit inside) and fly into the maze of tunnels, solving little puzzles to open doors to storage areas and docking bays. The players ship outside is however vulnerable to attack, so the player can switch back if needed but this means that the salvage drone is left where it is with any treasure it has collected. A pirate player could chase off the original owner and then hack the drone for themselves and steal the found salvage.

The player performing the salvage could take measures to mask themselves during the salavage attempt by dropping shields and lowering their core temp or engineering a cold ship to help generally mask the vessel during the EVA.

The Elite Dangerous galaxy often strikes me as being too clean, we do have debri fields but they are usually homogeneous ship debri parts scatter around an area. I'd like to see Dead Mega Ships, Dead Space stations, Dead Mega structures scattered about all with the ability to explore within using a crafty salvage drone.

Some of these dead hulks can be more accessable to larger ships in ED, not so much for the salvage aspect but for them being frames to fly within and around during PvP or PvE combat. The pilot using the enviroment to his advantage in a fight.

Maybe Once you guys open up the permit locked areas in ED, (one assumes them to be Alien spheres of influence) we could encounter ancient dead spaceship hulks from a long ago extraterrestrial interstellar war, floating forgotten and ruined for aeons... a gold rush for Human tech brokers and historians.

It's alright. Not very deep, rather repetitive, Pretty but not ground breaking... Its ok. (setting up my custom controls in that game honestly drove me to pure rage... its awful)
I got in a sale for £4... so im happy enough. Full price, i would argue no.

Nice one, duly noted.

If I see it cheap, I might well have a poke.

Definitely yes! The idea of using "SLF" for something different from combat and more explorative activity is a very interesting idea.
While SRV are mainly used for raw materials, these SLF could be extremely useful for players that are not interested in combat and that need to salvage manufactured materials in dead/abandoned structures.

I've long been a proponent for Space Legs to largely be used for derelict salvage and exploration in a procedurally generated interior. Walking around my ship is one thing, but getting to walk around on strange, abandoned ships is a whole other interesting thing.

Something like this?

I had this picture as my desktop wallpaper for about a year. But in general yes.
This image i think is a Station construction site or maybe a breakers yard.
I'd love something like that in ED, but for the sake of this thread, SALVAGE is key... so the hulks must be abandoned, dead, lost.

If space legs happens, then the ability to board a derelict and search for salvage is fine. But as a human in a space suit you are limited by what you can carry. So you would be boarding a massive ship (wandering around for hours) just to litterally fill your pockets and maybe a bag.

If however you send in a drone about the size of a SLF, you could latch onto a salvage much larger and more valuable. You also have the ability to drop remote control to defend your mother ship if you came under attack. On foot with space legs you would need to run back to the cockpit in time.
