Giant Tiger Land Snail Gender?

Here's something I couldn't help but notice, aren't snails all hermaphrodites, meaning they all have both male and female organs? The snails in game are either male or female, while in reality there is litterary no such thing as a male snail or a female snail. Would it be possible to add a third gender options in the game for cases like this?

Interestingly, in the beta there was a third sex for animals which are hernaphrodites.

I think this, alongside family trees, was a last second removal because of some last minute bugss. maybe it will be back someday?
