gifted a friend the game and he gets a black screen and unsupported single.

So i got the game for 2 friends one is fine and can play the other since lunch is getting a black screen and then his monitor is saying unsupported single. it works fine for every other game but only is having this issue with ed.

we have tried to

remove the local files

load in english which did work for a sec he got to play for a bit but it started doing it again today

we even reinstalled the game

hes telling me to refund but i want to get it working because i need a space game in my life right now.

any ideas on what is causing this issue?

I'm not on my gaming PC, but I'll try it from memory - Click the little up arrow next to the date/time (bottom right corner of taskbar) and look for the GeForce "logo", right click that. Select Open/Run or whatever it says to make it work. Somewhere in there is a list of games. Turn it off for Elite Dangerous. In fairness, I actuarlly uninstalled "GeForce Experience" a while back because it interfered with FSX, P3D and Elite! Good Luck

and yea uninstall GeForce exp it just does not work well with ed and causes stutters on most systems
not forgetting a pc reboot so changes cement in so to speak

It's possible that ED's default resolution or refresh rate is not supported by your friend's system.

Open the file "%LocalAppData%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics\DisplaySettings.xml" and set FullScreen to "0" then start the game and manually set the native resolution and refresh rate of your friend's display.
