Gimbal mode - converge at range?

Basically turrets have a couple of modes:

  • fire at will - in which they will shoot at any hostile within their hemispherical firing arc
  • target only - in which they will keep tracking and firing on your target and only your target within their hemispherical firing arc
  • forward fire - whereby they emulate fixed weapons shooting only directly forwards

So I was wondering if we could give gimbals a similar trio of modes befitting their reduced firing arcs:
  • Tracking - what they do now, moving through their arc to try to keep a bead on your target
  • Converge - whereby they converge at a fixed point directly in front of the nose of your ship the distance to your targetted ship
  • forward fire - as per turrets this would emulate fixed weapons shooting only directly forwards

Please note I'd like convergence mode to have no tracking ie: that fixed point at which the gimballed weapons would converge would not move relative to the ship to try and track the target it would always be directly in front of the ship.
