Gin-fuelled robbery

Okay, so I made my way to Sol for a look around. Took the first mission I was offered - a run to Alpha Centauri to deliver some clothes.

Didn't realise that system is some kind of in-joke, but I went there anyway, supercruising for over an hour to reach the station.

Delivered the goods, and saw they had Centaurian Mega Gin on sale. Only 3K, with a galactic average of over 10K. So I stocked up, spending all my cash to fill my hold.

Head back to Sol to sell it, but the price they're offering is also 3K. So I head further out. Everywhere offers 3K. I go further still, into the unknown, until I'm more than 200 light years from home. The last stations I saw were still offering 3K for this mysterious 10K product, so I head further still, fuel-scooping my way between dead stars in uninhabited space.

Somebody must want to buy my gin.

Until, finally... interdicted by a random NPC. After failing to escape interdiction my shields are down and my hull was already damaged from all the fuel-scooping, so I'm killed instantly.

Now I have now money and no worthless gin. I'm back at the last station I visited, many light years away, and I'm in debt from buying back my ship. My will to play has vanished for now. That was honestly the most annoying experience I've ever had in a computer game.

They should have something like the 'nemesis' system from Shadows of Mordor, because I would love to track down the NPC who killed me (Ian Wilko Wilkinson) and bring him to justice. I would make it my life's work in this game, assuming I can ever bring myself to play it again.

the mega gin, you mentioned, i could be wrong as i avoid that system like the plague, you say was on sale, was it highlighted in the commodities market? is so, that falls under the Rare items and those get more valuable the further away from the origin point you take them (~160 LY)

as to the other parts...

Harsh Mistress elite is, mhmmm, much to learn young padwans have.

(sorry mate, couldn't resist) :p

I've made it my life mission to kill all NPCs with 'flibble' in their name [1]. Some time ago I was pulled out of SC in some unexplored, deathly empty backwater [2] by an NPC called Archie McFlibble or something like that. He told me to drop my cargo (I didn't have any) and I was so busy laughing at his name that he shot me to pieces anyway. I lost about 50 systems worth of exploration data.

Still laughing about it now actually.

[1] There's a strong possibility that this total is somewhere between zero and two.
[2] Could have been Eastbourne.

Forget about trading. Be a criminal/smuggler/pirate/mercenary/bounty hunter. Much more fun and this time it's YOU robbing the people, not otherwise :)
