Give us more Cargo for more options

There are many builds that utility slots have like no real purpose.

How about some single use trade canisters that can hold X tons capacity (and add T for the weight of the canister size) :) externally on the ship and if they get too hot for example they can go boom and lose your freight.

Would be cool to have ships like Type9 and big mammoths with a ton of external canisters. It would impact your jump range, make you slow as molassis if interdicted, heck make interdicting easier.

It would be fun. Give trade runs more oomph against mining/combat. To counter the "Yeah but mining would be silly with 1200 cargo capacity" comments just make handling suck so bad nobody would use the max weight canisters or something. Could even make planet landing not possible with the canisters if the thrust isn't high enough.

I'd love more stuff for utility slots. Just feels like there is nothing there for a lot of builds other than chucking a bunch of shield boosters... I guess I'll do that nothing else makes sense for this build.

If I remember correctly, I think there was a previous Elite which had this or had some ships which were built as external container ships.

What I'd like more than this is a way to dock a small ship to a large ship (not SLFs) like the Anaconda was supposed to have or externally.

Have you used the outfitting screen and seen how tiny the utilities are? I don't think you'd get more than a couple of pounds in that canister. As an attatchment node for a larger canister... I hope they account for the damage your ship takes when one of those canisters gets ripped off that flimsy little latch.

@Ethadian I think ya missed my point. External canisters. The utility slots could just be the latch for the canister hanging on ship. But hey could always give up Hardpoints for this thought too...

@Quantis there is an idea too :)

My main point is these are ships in a place where shape dont matter much aside from looks. If you have the thrust/jump tech that is based on mass then if you want to have a shorter jump range thats on you.

I think I addressed the possibility of it being a latch - inertia be damned!
