Give us something to spend our money on FD

Has always been the issue. Once you buy the ships you want, credits are meaningless. Is there some kind of economy to be mindful of? Nope. Do you have upkeep costs, hangar rent costs, your own station to pay maintenance of? Nope. Can you trade with players? Nope. Are refuel and rearm costs meaningful? Nope. Ships and rebuy. Credits are good for nothing more.

And in 2020 .... my outpost was repossessed when I failed to earn the 500M / week upkeep - give us more ways to earn more moneys!
The difference is: the first is a reasonable complaint, saying “please give us engaging gameplay loops in this video game”. The second is lazy people whining: “I want to fly that big ship RIGHT NOW”.

The former is Frontier's poor design fault. The latter, the lack of patience of some customers.

I have the feeling fdev thought that people would try out the other gameplay loops once they realised that they had enough CR for ships & rebuys. But a lot of people seem to get obsessed with the CR earning and never move past it. Then complain they have too many ... when they are the ones who earned them...

Just look at all the threads complaining that 'I would do AX, but the (CR) pay is bad', etc. Lots of examples.

Said it many times elsewhere. CG's should be reintroduced as player-funded activities. Tops up a % of money earned from a pool funded by either individual players or squadrons. That way, players could:
  • Offer increased rewards for helping repair specific stations attacked by Thargoids
  • Increase Security/Economic effects for a particular faction
  • Encourage people to help a particular side in a war
  • Just coz, to get a bit more traffic in your area (heck; could be like "chumming the waters" for pirates)

There's a host of reasons why players would fund these things.

Yeah, also Squadron CGs - people throw money in and can then claim it by doing mini-CG type activities to support their BGS. More immersive than a discord post saying 'drop your bonds in system X'

Are you run out of imagination? So many players have billions and nothing to buy....new expensive ships and i mean EXPENSIVE SHIPS "over 500 millions credits" or building and running my own outpost. People are sitting on billions of credits and there is NOTHING to buy.
What would you do with more and/ or bigger ships?

I agree with you. Increasing or introducing running costs doesn't add more fun or depth necessarily. I might turn this game even more into a job. If you'd introduce a docking fee of 15 credits as described in Reclamation, what would that change? Would an increase to 150000 be any good? I don't think it would be unless FDev introduced a more varied economy, where you have varied fees, but also opportunities to gain much more profit in those place - again risk reward balance and diversity of the game world. I really hope we get a more in depth for the current mechanics, but I fear we will get and even more expanded game world due some tacked on (aka. 'optional') space legs, with the same level of shallowness in mechanics we already have.

A while back people were complaining that it took too long to make money - "just let me get credits so I can fly the ships I want and play the way I want".
Now people have enough credits but not enough to spend it on...

Exactly.
Fdev can never do it right.

But I do feel that they should introduce more regular costs to the world. For example... why are there no docking fees, like in the old games.
I have put several other suggestions in other threads.

Let us build outpost and outfit it with ships. You have to buy each ship and pay every rebuy of it. The arw controlled by NPCs. Players can raid player bases for stuff. The NPCs will protect it so the better you outfit your outpost woth corvettes the less likely you gonna lose something.

But yeah, instead: nothing. Developement is on hold until 2020, probably even 2021 considering FDev rarely manages to deliver on time.

Have to say, I find it interesting that this post starts with asking FD if they've run out of imagination, when OP apparently can't imagine anything to do in the game other than spend money.

I think that being able to set up your own power would be a good idea. It would allow human space to expand and create a larger bubble or multiple smaller ones. This could then be like Stellaris and have wars between bubbles and the different powers. Space is a big place and this would mean that more would be discovered and allow for people to have their own suited fractions because I feel like the set fractions aren't that attractive and why I have stayed lawless.

It wont help. We used to have things to spend our money on, but then we whined that it took too long to get them, so Frontier gave us what we said we wanted and now credits are worthless and there is nothing to spend that money on anymore.
What if Frontier now gives us more stuff to buy? We'll whine again that it takes too long to unlock until the point Frontier caves again, and then there will be nothing to spend our money on again.

Simple solution - clear save.
