People are complaining because their Asp got killed by an adder. As much as I want to fight some thargoids in my Engineered Corvette, I realize that people will complain endlessly if FD makes them too hard. Personally I think that thargoid ships should all have Elite AI and require Engineer mods to fight comfortably.

If Thargoïds = moar mindless pewpew, then yeah, reskin a few combat ships so they look like lousy octagons and let's get done with it : it will be a snore fest after 2 days anyway so why bother ?

If they bring more interesting gameplay mechanics, then no rushing please ! Take your time and make them *very* interesting. Make them the main aspect of an entire season even (S3 ?), with TONS of new things to do / discover / trade / mine / build and, of course, kill.
