Given I hated 2.3 in the build up I appear to be the only person that likes it

Hi ye all,

Well multi-crew with instancing over 10,000LY - that was nearly a game breaker for me. Given up caring up about it (it was that or give up the game).

So 2.3 arrived - and I like a lot, which I really did not expect.

Things I like - mostly QOL.

1) Glide mode to planet instance - a couple of seconds. That is so much better, feels closer to the seemless promised on 2.0 launch. Good job.
2) Holo-me - blimey I am ugly - now for all to see.
3) NPC Pirate interaction - left some telemetary suits on board, got interdicted by 2 DBS - they wanted 2 tons. I ran away, but if I had read their demands, I probably would have given it.
4) No stutter approaching bases and stations in 4K - yeah to that!
5) Camera suite - getting better with it.
6) The Dolphin.
7) The huge buff to exploration income. In 2.2, I would only tavel a few hundred LS to scan something, unless it was really, really interesting. Willing to go 2000LS now, assuming no other time pressures. Really keen to see BGS effects.
8) Camera.
9) Nameplates and naming - got the Pork Chop Express from Big Trouble in Little China for my Python. An Orca, Dolphin and Vulture to name.

On the downside the new Galaxy map was a problem for me.

1) Current got Super Sampling at 0.5x - solves the menu problem, want it back to 1.0 to crispen up the text, can live with it until done - worst for VR cmdrs.
2) Could not click on anything on Galaxy Map - resorted to using search function in Galaxy Map. This seems to be fixed after server maintenance this morning.

So I am really liking 2.3, a lot, lot more than I thought I would.

Given some of the moaning threads - making this place more depressing than normal, though I would post a "Trump style U-turn" from me.

Yep, don't do MC but I have had zero issues with 2.3 and like it just fine.
And, except for the 'Conda cockpit, no bugs. Galaxy map works fine here.
Bought my Ship Name and ID Plates last night so bonus points for the "Pork Chop Express" name! Great and fun movie.

Nah, it's fine. Just that the 2.4 surprise should IMAO be that the development side of the team gets to spend all of their time on bugfixes for three straight months ;)

Rep for getting the film reference - cannot believe they are remaking it. I feel as good about that idea as I did about 2.3 :) Ship code is obvioulsy BTILC.

I admit, one of my old group from 1.4 cam back this morning did his holo-me, so we multi-crewed up. I was talking him through the camera suite, when his guests for the day arrived :-( As the Python has no figter, and I have not installed turrets it was more a laugh at each other avatars!

Glad I am not in a group of 1!

Nah you are not the only one. ;)

I still have to try multicrew (waiting for a friend to appear since he is quite busy lately) but the rest aside from some minor things this update is quite stable.

I have to say I'm quite surprised at the negative responses on the forums and elsewhere. I understand if you're on the receiving end of some of the issues that this is painful (especially after a long beta period where you would've hoped all issues would have been resolved).

However, I'm sure Frontier will do their best to fix any issues that everyone's experiencing and look at some of the balance issues with rewards for MC.

having said all that: the simply fantastic QoL improvements alone make this simply a must have patch for me. I'm overjoyed with the improvements that were made, particularly to loading screens (galaxy map, I'm looking at you) and dropping out of supercruise. It's all very smooth for me and I have to commend the team for it.

It must be hard to constantly see negative posts about the work you are doing. Please don't let it get to you. just keep going and keep adding more cool things to the game for us all to enjoy.

Big thanks for this fantastic update to the game that I love so much.

I can safely say despite MC being pretty barebones, the rest of the features and the QoL improvements listed by OP, this might be my new favourite patch. And we didn't even get into the alien part yet.

Apart from a few minor bugs, and one moderate one (that may be a feature I'm not familiar with), I'm loving 2.3! :)

Right on FD!

This is the first patch I've managed to play within 12 hours of release. Usually life gets in the way, and I end up playing 1-2 weeks later, so that explains why there are more bugs than I'm used to. :p

Calling something Christian will likely be banned one day because it `offends` someone. I kid you not.

That sucks man - hopefully as FD do with other features thet will review over time. Have you raised a ticket to make them aware of the problem?

On another note - far too positive this thread, so as I started it - so some negatvity so other contribute!

<sarcastic-demand mode="on">
I have a Dolphin - it is a nice ship. But.
I demand the vibrant paint pack now, fixing it for those that can get in, the galaxy map for those in VR will have to wait my demand for the Vibrant paint pack must take priority.
Reasons .... I have been here with the game since Alpha, I have spent X, it is not fair, how can I make credits if it is not orange, going to join Morbius, the game is broken.

I agree with the OP, 2.3 has been a positive surprise for me. Everything feels smoother, faster, snappier. Galaxy map works for me, even slightly better than before.

Holo-Me: Really cool, my sister was on visit yesterday, I told her "this game has a new feature I'd like to show to you". The moment she had a glimpse at the monitor she said - without knowing what holo-me was - "hey, that guy looks like you" :D

The game is ok for me... Except a noise when a target appears on your radar and it starts making blip sounds over and over and over and overlaps and is annoying as hell. In the weekend I'll make a video and upload the bug report.
Other than that, quite happy with the game. I'll go explore I suppose until that is fixed.

I also like those improvements you mentioned smiths121. Also the asteroid bases are cool. The near-seamless transitions with flying is a huge QOL improvement.

2.3 is definitely a decent update. It's also content-light (multicrew is mostly combat and kind of basic) and the old features need improvements too (CQC integration into main-game, powerplay, more mission and star system variety and content).
