Given the BGS reset/HGE availability issue, how about a Christmas sale at the Material Traders?

As for the BGS, I, and a great many other players, simply aren't interested. "Play it your way", remember?

Oh give that tired old chestnut a rest already. Or, at the very least try to understand it.

Piyow, does not mean 'do only the things you want and expect the game to bend to your will and gift you whatever you want, whenever you want it'.

Try to wrap your head around this... Play your way, within the Universe as it is designed. Just want to engage in combat, great, but good luck accessing all the engineers. Don't want to touch trading or passenger missions, great, expect to earn slower than others. Don't give a toss about the BGS - that backbone of the simulated Universe - good luck finding the missions you want, specific G5 mats, etc. Please do go ahead and choose your path, but stop expecting the Universe to cater to your narrow focus - if you decide to avoid specific activities within the game, there is no reason to expect the rewards from those activities should be made available at your demand.

Also, do remember: this is a game. You know, for fun and enjoyment. As much as I love the crunchy simulation bits, it's still maddening how many speed bumps the designers put between us and having fun.

You will treasure that thrilling canyon race, that ferocious dogfight, the alien sunrise, but not a single one of us will die saying "I wish I could grind one more random USS for a disappointing material drop."

There's a reason why I don't have friends mine asteroids for an hour when I introduce them to Elite in VR. It's not fun, and they'd resent me for it.

You know, in the real world I don't expect the universe to cater to my narrow focus - but in a complicated game like this with many pathways through it I do expect that part of the devs' responsibility is to make sure that one person's fun doesn't spoil another's.

When the devs come out and say that if you're not playing the BGS you shouldn't be playing Elite Dangerous, I might start to think you have a point.

Think they're going to be doing that anytime soon?

Edit: also, the current situation isn't the result of the operation of the BGS; this is the devs reaching out with the hand of God and accidentally knocking something over.

Yes, CDCs and Imperial Shielding are easier than ever to get - just not "hey, we can trade these at 6:1 and not feel the pain" easy. Not Jameson Cobra easy.

Actually it is Jameson cobra easy if you do the exploit. Granted some people are having trouble finding a HGE to start the process.

Basically, you can jump into a HGE, Jump out, then jump right back in and the mats will be back.
Really? I'd always assumed they just disappeared when you gutted 'em. Oh well, I'll have a look the next time I'm HGE hunting.

But I daresay I'll have trouble finding an HGE to start the process.

Edit: Also, if the ability to gather hundreds of G5 mats in this way is an exploit known only to a handful of 3L33t players, then it has no real bearing on the case I'm making in this thread.
