Returning from a few months off with a dumb question, do I have to interdict the NPC transmitting the above to read his tale? I've supercruised close, enough for him to interdict me even, but nothing happens, do I have to go rebuy an interdictor to continue these story lines? Or maybe a warp trail scanner?

SC up to them and they'll tell you they're gonna drop down. Then, they will either fly into the sun, or drop. Target their wake and (carefully) drop on them (your computer will not help you get into the drop zone, so take it slow)

I think if you wait til he drops out of SC, you can drop into his wake, it's usually a counter-offer for a Bulletin Board mission.

Keep an eye on them and they will drop into normal space, and there will be a low energy wake
You can follow them if you go the standard drop out speed and distance from the wake. No special Equipment needed.
Once there they will talk to you on a mission alternative.

You accept this alternative by tabbing over in the communications pane (the one you chat in). You decline the same way, or by leaving.

i thought that kindof stuff was just random AI chatter...and ignored that kinda stuff (when im in SC) whoops

I had one of these; dropped out of SC at his exit wake. He made his offer, he was 'Lawless', so I killed him. However: I am now having issues finding the 'Algae' I was sent out for in the 1st place. Still have a few hours, before mission fails.

I'm always happy to ask the dumb question as someone else will undoubtably learn something new too.

There always has been a mechanic in place for finding bulletin board targets and/or defecting from minor factions by taking your bb goods elsewhere for better reward/rep changes. You may find bb missions more engaging and finding stuff much easier now then.

I'm so glad I now understand the 'new way' to do this

as I was finding it all rather dull without. Thanks again all.

Looks like I am missing something; again.

Need to find, 4 Algae, stolen, Been looking about 3 hours now. Every WSS I find, everything thing else, but no Algae. Dropped in to USS and SSS, still no luck. Getting some bounties and my ship damaged by pesky Eagles, (I am really beginning to hate S.J.As new Eagles), but no Algae?

Any thoughts.

It would be nice if the player got a chat noise similar to a player speaking to them. Half of the time I don't even notice them trying to contact me until after the fact. "Oh, you rang? Sorry the phone was on silent!"

Don't bother waiting. He'll just offer you a pittance to change the mission. I had one for 500k and they offered me 4k to change it. errmmm. No.

Although just occasionally they lead you into an ambush and you get to pick up some bounties.

Yes, good suggestion, oftentimes i'm too busy to notice the orange text flash up briefly.

So long it's not a phonejacker "hello" ringtone...
