Gladiator joystick

Just ordered a right-hand premium VKB Gladiator NXT stick. Curious if anybody else is running one. The plan is to get a left-hand version later on so I can start twin-stick flying. Hoping I made the right choice. But anything would be better than the antique MS Sidewinder Precision Pro I'm using now.

that's actually a very well made stick imo
I am sure the new ones will outclass the look and feel though as like you say it is a geriatric
Yeah, the Sidewinder is definitely a quality stick. It's just not up to the task. Not enough buttons mainly. And mine has a huge amount of drift in all three axes, had to put in big deadzones. That makes it very twitchy.

Great stick, I dont think you will get disappointed, I have warthog, x56, sidewinder and t16000.. but the gladiator beats em all for my taste/demands.

I've got one as well and am deeply impressed with it. The buttons/throttle on the base are pretty pointless but otherwise its good. You will need to get use to using the thumb button by positioning it under the joint of your thumb.

My main worry about the thumb button is hitting it when I don't want to. I'm used to having just a rest there.

I run a Kosmosima grip on a gunfighter base on the left, and it's... Okay? I am much more impressed with Virpil's tbh (Constellation Alpha, which I have on the right), but if you don't need the rubbish twist mechanism VKB are probably fine. VKB support isn't too supportive though!

Yeah, Kosmosima's twist is by far the worst part of the stick IMO. I mean, it works OK after regreasing or a long break-in of factory grease but it's plastic and so far from amazing all-metal gimball of GF III... I've never used Virpil stick but it's obvious to me that VKB should consider doing the twist differently.

VKB has twist also. And it's half the price of pretty much everything else.

Precisely. I've been playing for three years using €80 VKB Gladiator Mk II and the twist was perfect, way better than the Kosmosima's one. No issues, no need for regreasing, worked super-fluently.

I've been considering Constellation Alpha but I have my sticks on the desk and the difference in grip size is significant:

The Constellation Alpha on a WarBRD base is great, I absolutely love it, but the stick is DEFINITELY too big for desktop. I used a cheap pole mount and some strong velcro to fit it below the armrest of the chair.

Sure, and according to LifesAJourney the Gladiator doesn't have the problems the Kosmosima does. This was more a response to

For anyone who IS looking at ~€400, my best experience is Virpil. For around ~€100, the T1600M has been my best experience.

Woohoo!!! Got my Gladiator today. Got it all assembled. Feels fantastic! But the cord is too short to reach my computer. I need to get an extension before I can try it out. And I'm in class today (online) so I can't easily sneak out for an hour to buy one.

Got a 7-port USB hub. Keyboard, mouse, and joystick all neatly plugged in with just a single cord running across the living room to the PC. So I had a chance to test the new stick and I am thrilled with it. It is so much smoother and more precise than the old one.

The downside is that it will probably take a couple hours of tinkering to get the keybinds right. I got them all set before I could play. But what seems right beforehand doesn't always feel right in-game. Plus I didn't get to test everything. Still, a worthwhile upgrade.
