Glitched inside a planet.

So I got momentarily distracted while scanning a rocky body and violently departed FSD and ended up INSIDE the planet...

Now penetration damage was not too bad, but exiting reduced my Structural Integrity to 24%. (Is there a safe way to breach the surface? ) Module damage however was not too bad, 1-2% per. So how bad is a 24% damage indicator? Should I end my expedition and head home, or is it still safe to keep heading towards the core?

This has happened to me too :)

Log out of horizons.
Log in with Elite Dangerous 64bit version. Because you are unable to land on planets in this version, it starts you in orbit around the planet.
Log out and re-start Horizons. Voila - back in Horizons, but in orbit around the planet instead of inside the planet.

Well.. how far from home are you?... if FDEV patches you upp, you're fine, obviously.. but if not, head for home immediately.. I remember accidentally bouncing my Diamondback off an asteroid while trying to show off for a friend... that was 20kLYs from home.. and my hull integrity went down from 90 to 32%...

I think that is the most lonely moment I have ever felt in a computer game... :)

On a side note... let us all remember other games in which you could end up inside planets or other solid objects...
The first S.T.A.L.K.E.R game for example... the falling through the ground bug was so common around Yantar that people soon stopped asking why one fell through the ground in the forum... they started asking far more interesting questions like... "Why are there two helicopters under ground at Yantar?" :)

Rep+1 for being inside a planet, not for the damage of course. If you are able to look beyond the damage it is pretty cool actually to be inside a planet... I do not think that there are many commanders that can say they have been in the same place as you (some sure tried...). However, I will not try to replicate your action :).
