Global chat room for EliteDangerous on steam

The space is cold and lonely.
So set your transmitter beams to wide and let yourself be heard trough out the expanse.

Welcome to the Global chat channel. Better, more convenient, and most importantly MORE EXISTING, than the chat we have in the game.

Who said we can not play our online game with thousands of other people and not enjoy the social side too ?
No more boredom in space !

I know this will not appeal to everyone.
But there are few of us that feel that as great as E:D is, it lacks bit in the social department.
And so far there are no intentions or signs from side of FD this is going to change any time soon.

Thanks to them they have provided us the great game.
And Steam has provided us with excellent overlay tool - that is maybe even better and easier to use than ED chat.
I know there is already active community on IRC. But again Steam chat is so convenient. It even comes with voice capabilities, and no need to install anything.

So please if you or any of your buddies is interested in what is simply global chat.

I wouldn't mind a global chat if I could plainly make it disappear to never see it unless I specifically want to. I for sure don't want spam in my cockpit...

This is steam chat on overlay.
If you using steam to play the game, simply press shift+Tab to bring overlay and type or read.

Its very convinient, and fully optional and hidden while playing the game.

Even if you bought ED through Frontier's store, you can still use Steam, to start it up (and have access to the Steam overlay while in ED).
Just click on Add Game in the bottom left corner of your Steam window, choose Add non-Steam game, and point it to EDLaunch.exe

Now you can use the Steam overlay as with every normal Steam game.
I always use it, so that I can have the Steam-friends chat, and the Steam internet browser while playing ED.

Well. I am in not remote area. In fact doing rare trading that is based on populated routes. Still I see other people rarely.
And even than only for few seconds before they jump away.

Steam chat is more convenient :)

This is actually sad to me...I dont and wont use steam since the last time my steam account was hacked.

I hope FD will wake up and see that the players really DO want to communicate with each other and put in a better global chat system...I dont wish to be forced to go to steam to be involved.
