GNOSIS - How is this going to work ?

I would like to join the Gnosis expedition but I'm kinda confused on how this will work,
I figure that I will have to store a ship on the Gnosis, but since you can only use 1 ship at a time, (I have 4 ships, 1 for each type of play), how do I leave a ship there and still be able to continue playing until the Gnosis leaves?
- do I suspend play until that date and join the ship just b4 it's leaving? or what? -
I don't see any other way,
That means I have to be online during the event or login after the event and use that ship I placed in the Gnosis ship bay.
I would like to join this event but can't see the 2 options being viable to my style of play.
BTW, where the hell is the Gnosis ATM? I thought it was parked in the Merope system but could not find it there.
I'm all for exploration and finding new places, but if the scenario is as I have described, I don't think it has been well thought out

The Gnosis has no shipyard, so you can't store ships there.

Unfortunately you can't search for movable megaships on the map, so you'll have to find out where it is out of game :(

What you'll need to do is:
1) Before it makes its final jump into the Cone Sector, dock with it in whatever ship you want to take. You have to remain docked with it while it jumps (on a Thursday morning server cycle, so you'll be logged out at the time)
2) Have fun in Cone Sector for a few weeks
3) Make sure you're docked again before it jumps out!

Are you stuck there for 4 weeks?

That would drive me insane.

No, you can take a disposable ship, suicide when you have had enough and take the freewinder option to put you back in the bubble in your starting location, just dock a decent ship there and you are ready to go!

Of course you will lose any exploration data you had but that's one option, the other is to commit a crime and spawn in detention.

I could have sworn someone said that there is a Neutron star in there to be able to jump OVER the permit barrier, so if you have decent enough jump range you should be able to jump out but not back in.

almost sounds like the beginnings of fleet carrier mechanics...as a suggestion forum perhaps feedback to the experience of being 'carried' somewhere can be related here?

i'd like to suggest fleet carrier has an expandable 'shipyard'
fleet 'shipyard' functions through tele presence
any commander of the squadron(guild) can tele into their docked ship at the fleet carriers location
the number of docked ship allowed per commander, is upgradable
squadrons(guild) may contribute [stuff] to upgrade
the 'shipyard' landing pads available to commanders progress's from small to large, and from 1 per to 2.. maybe more

What's stopping someone from jumping out? How far away in the nearest non-permit star?

if it's to far to jump into, which it is, then it's most likely to far to jump out of. I think the Gnosis can do 500ly jumps? Not 100% sure on that jump range, I may be wrong.

How would they know since no-one has been able to get in to test it? They might have spotted a Neutron star near the border that may get you out, but until it is actually tested no-one will know. We will probably fund out after the Gnosis arrives, but it won't do us much good I'm afraid, getting out is the easy bit.
