Go back to old Inara site?

I know this might not be the best place to post this but does anyone have a way of going back to the old Inara site layout? I accidentally clicked the beta version thinking I could switch back but its absolutely ing appalling. It looks like a mobile site, navigation is god awful and I actually hate the website now.

Please someone tell me how to switch it back

Enjoy the option while it lasts, muhahaha! :devilish:

More seriously though - the old version will stay there for some time, so feel free to use whatever version you prefer. There are many new features and improvements in the new Inara though, so it's worth a switch (and also, the old version won't be here indefinitely). :)

Bring back the 1.0 version.. now that was really good.
It was so terrible I probably even have no screenshots from that time... ;)

God why do sites and developers companies do this - seems like just for the sake of it they take something and make it worse.... ED GUI for example and now INARA.
There are usually reasons for it, nobody wants to make changes "just because" and face an anger of users for no reason. Not sure about ED GUI, but it was no different for Inara - I had reasons for it, a ton of previous feedback, complaints, confused questions from users, usage data and so on that I needed to address. I understand that the changes may not be everybody's cup of tea and may even consider it as a step backwards, but the general feedback and data after a week of the new version shows it was a right step to do. But as with any major changes - you simply cannot please everybody (I bet Frontier also knows something about it with Elite). :)

Actually the worst offender by far is Microsoft and what they did to XLS.

New layout is too spread out and the font size larger. I seem to do much more scrolling to find anything and really miss the menu on the left side.

Some baffling decisions re navigation mean it's taking longer to do things, e.g.: commodities, the search engine looks like a copy of eddb so requires you to go back and forth to switch between buy & sell and enter another menu to switch off fleet carriers etc, whereas before you could just click on the 4 tabs to switch buy/sell, nearest/best price and (de)select carriers etc on the same screen.

And settings? MY PROFILE > Settings only gives you access to the profile specific settings. Ok, makes sense you say. But where are the other settings? You have to click on the EDIT button to the right of your CMDR name, but that button only appears when your mouse pointer is hovering over the CMDR Profile banner at the top of the screen.

Try reading the old site on your phone. Then look at the new site. A vast improvement.
I have no reason to view the site on a phone, I have a PC with a 3840x1600 screen, and on that the new Inara is a huge setback. But it can't be helped. I'll use the old site as long as it still exists. After that I don't know. I might move my fleet management to EDSM and my engineering lists to ED engineer. So far I had them on Inara.

I wanted to separate the account and the commander, including settings. It will allow multi-commander accounts in the future. The Commander settings option is in the menu, too.

About the commodity searches - yeah, it was a little bit easier before, but it was a necessary trade-off. People asked for additional search options like excluding carriers with "outdated" docking privileges, displaying just anarchy black markets and so on. It was either about adding a ton of buttons and people clicking like mad on everything or transforming it into the standard search form (I experimented also with some hybrids, but it was a mess). It worth to be noted that all settings are being remembered across your session (or indefinitely, when logged in), so you can set all the detailed settings just once and then forget about it. :)

"New" and "old" Inara are such generic terms. May I suggest calling them 3.8 and 4.0? 😅

Artie's site, his rules. I like the new site. Cleaner. Every few years you have to step back and reorg things, as you inevitably end up with crustations over the previous stuff, due to just adding in stuff here and there. You have to do a spring clean every now and again.

I do all my management of ships and engineering on EDD of course ;-)
