Go Tieam! er Teiam! Teaim?... Maybe compromise? Go Team-i?

Well as most people have read the dev team is compromising a little on the direction Powerplay is going https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=149366

Which is nice but its only really treating the symptom, rather then the disease. Simply put, as the title suggests there is no I in team. Elites playerbase for the most part is made up of working adults with families, meaning for the majority of them a lot of powerplay is going to be locked behind what is essentially a Time Wall. Its not a new concept WoW made use of it for cosmetic gear and mounts.

However it is in fact a rather old concept and a bit of a loathed one at that by most gamers. Primarily because Walls aren't fun, be they pay walls, time walls, or ect... There isn't anything entertaining about a wall. It is flat boring and obstructing with little room for flexibility.

Most of all, it wasn't what anyone wanted. That is an important thing to consider, when powerplay was hinted at people were hoping for a true structure for the metagame. Incentives for players to work together make friends and enemies, to achieve together, to reshape the political boundaries of the galaxy! A sort of Planetside meets Eve kind of gig.
Instead what they got was a fancily dressed challenge mode were players compete with their own team mates to see who has the most free time and ability to absorb caffeine into their blood steam... Which already exists in the form of community goals.

This resulted in a almost simultaneous and loud "Sigh" from the forests of Canada to the beaches of New Zealand. While it is good that the Devs heard that pitiful sound of utter soul crushing disappointment. It seems as if it was misunderstood.

Because in my opinion and that of nearly every soul i have spoken to. Its not that the challenge mode was too challenging. It was that it was a challenge mode at all.

Simply put this isn't what people wanted, they wanted true in the blue political intrigue that they could achieve together (not against) for the good of all of their faction (not 50% to 10) in the hope that it would bring players who otherwise do not interact together (rather then drive them away with a giant Wall of Time that they do not have).

Its certainly your game Frontier and you guys get to make the decisions, but i really do hope you reconsider this approach. It's not that there will be a giant upheaval of rage from the community, but rather a simple disinterested and more so disheartened "sigh". The sort that create cracks in the foundations of what otherwise would be a passionate experience.

As a endearing fan, please change your mind.

Good post, I'm an unabashed fanboi of the game sunk loads of money and time into it and my related site but I'm disappointed with a few things about PP. The point you stated is a big one the other being the grindy nature of the tasks you do to earn merits. As PP stands now I don't think I'll bother with it, it just doesn't sit well with me and how I like to play. Rest of the patch is pretty awesome though so its not as if I'll stop playing. :D
