I'm usually one to whine and whinge, with a fair balance of input and constructive criticism (That's a subject for another thread!).
But anyhow, I just went through a serious upgrade, a partially full rebuild if you like. The only remaining components are the PSU and the GPU (Corsair 660M and GTX 970). Overall, I can't believe the jump in performance throughout. One thing that has impressed me is the games (Have to note this build is seriously OC and designed to do that.) One game I have loved for the last 15 years is CS:GO, totally different game.
So, running through my games library to see what has changed and I started on ED:Horizons. First thing obviously to test the system is land on a surface. Previously 35-43 was max FPS, now 80-110. Yes, I'm happy with that.
But, hang on this isn't the same game, look at the colours, the textures. Where it was once the same old grey moon, it had fields of green, brown, blues. The sky box was deeper and richer.
I had seen others screenshots but never seen them in RLG for myself, until now. I was flying my Asp around following the setting star and came over the brow of a set of mountains and was presented with this view..
And that was it I was sold, how have they done this? Gameplay aside, you can't make that, and not get some recognition.
Let's bare in mind, I could direct anybody to any coordinate in a galaxy in 400 billion systems and at the right time they could watch the same view
P.S. Disclaimer, I have just got a new monitor as well, so if that is the significant increase in fidelity I'm am experiencing, and others don't see what I do. Then the feelings still stand.
P.P.S. Try downloading and zooming in the detail is quality. (It has been compressed to a JPEG though so there is a lot of loss)
