Goids Rank

Every Goid ship I have engaged has been a cyclops variant but almost every Goid has manoeuvred differently.
Im thinking the Goids have rank, like, dangerous deadly elite.
Could those markings above their cockpits indicate rank ? I don't know, symbols and that is beyond me.
The other option is this - They are adapting to my tactics.

Anyone else noticed different manoeuvres during combat ?

There certainly seems to be a lot of speculation regarding those markings on Barnacles and Thargoid ships ect.

This may be utterly irrelevant, but just in case, I will mention it here.I was under the impression that the combat bond payout was 2 million for destroying Cyclops variant Interceptor. At least, this had been the same for a number of sorties. However, on the last combat (which did seem a little longer or more challenging but that might be due to any number of reasons) the payout was a 3 million bond.Maybe more drones got killed or who knows... maybe it was a different 'rank' craft? Maybe there's soime mechanic in the payment (more or fewer pilots involved- pretty sure there may have been others not in the wing previously)

Someone posted a pilot log excerpt indicating they were killed by a thargoid scout of "elite" rank, so you may be on to something there. SJA said she did a lot of work on the thargoid AI, so it'd be logical to assume they would share difficulty levels just like human NPCs, seeing as they'd share the same base code. May also explain what those markings, or at least parts of them, indicate.

Brilliant feedback mate, cheers.

Yeah I've only had a go at two so far, with no success on my own. And the second one was definitely dealing more damage to me than the first.

We have to work out their ranking system. Could be inner rings are the clan, faction/group designation with outer rings being their rank or simple combat ability level.

Do we find Thargoids with the same inner rings frequenting the same barnacle farm with the same logogram on the barnacles? It would make sense that clan/groups would have their own farms.

We need to get detailed descriptions of the Thargoids' behavior and aggression levels from any confrontations to match with it's logogram designation and we need lots of data to compare.

Sorry, but there's no way to gauge a Thargoids aggression/difficulty level without entering into combat.

Edit: Oh oops! Sorry please forgive my ignorance there; it was a long time ago when I visited a barnacle and I have never attempted to keep up with the Cannon thread. Except dipping in once or twice.

Just been out to see the barnacle forest and looking at the marking realized its just the inner faction symbol on the barnacles.

Actually now that they have changed the layout of the research and alien stuff here on the forum, the information gathered is a little more accessible to me - so I will spend some time trying to get up to speed.
