Going on a long pilgrimage, need help

Finally got to dangerous combat rank, now that's out the way. I have bought myself a DBE and fitted her for exploration, jump range of 33ly.

Now I wish to go to VY Canis Majoris as it's on my exploration bucket list, problem is its greater than the 1000ly limit on the in game route planner. How do the seasoned explorers get around this, also the same for getting back to base from over 1000 lys

Hello. I've been on a few trips in to the black myself, & whilst I've no real travel advice per se (other than take adequate shielding (for the hairy return to human-occupied space), a good book & enough toilet roll to see you through, I guess) I just wanted to wish you luck. Send us a postcard ☺
P.S. I've heard rumours that VW Canis Major is a particular Thargoid holiday hot spot this time of galactic year, so look out for that........of course I might have just made that up....

VY Canis Majoris was my first exploration trip back in 1.0, around this time of the galactic year... haven´t seen any sunbathing Thargoids.
There are a few Neutron Stars, Black Holes and other giant stars around the most direct route, you can plot your route using these.
Get the best fuel scoop u can fit, AFMU is optional but may be useful.
