Going out in to the black.

My fleet carrier Elysian Fields [FIRM] is preparing for a deep exploration trip into the black. I am located in the SCORI system and I have a Tritum order for 1,100,564,932. Who wants to ride to the center of the galaxy?

I'm kind of interested in travelling on a fleet carrier, while of course there's a trophy for doing so, though as fast as they are at travelling places, I'd miss the journey you normally make in a ship along the way!

Are you planning to make frequent stops and explore the general area, or will you make a "straight shot" for the centre?!...

Personally I went on my first long range exploration expedition (mostly to unlock Professor Palin) a few months ago, eventually going about 8,000 light years out and back, though with my limited playtime and taking time to "smell the roses", it took me about six weeks, which overall was quite enjoyable and useful, putting my name on several unexplored systems along the way - so I'll probably go the "old fashioned way" IF I ever want to go that far!...

More likely I'll take the best part of six months travelling to Colonia to unlock the engineers there, once I finally unlock Selene Jean (bloody painite!! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ©²), and never go any further!

So for now, I think I'll just wish you well! πŸ˜€πŸ€˜ .

P.S. I don't really NEED to go out that far, as even though I've never been there, I got the trophy for visiting Sag A already due to some glitch (while I'm missing one or two others that should have unlocked by now!! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ˜€πŸ€˜ .

Er i think your stoker is telling you porkys, with that much trit you could prolly do over 10k jumps, thats about 5 million LYs.
Have you found Raxxla in another galaxy? :ROFLMAO:

Oh my, the O.P. just outed themselves as a beta tester for the forthcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X timed exclusive Andromeda expansion to make up for the delay in releasing a full native "next gen" version of Elite and Odyssey on the systems!!
(If only!!) πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ©²πŸ˜€πŸ€˜πŸ€ž .

Is 1,100,564,932 about tons of Trintium or the credits to buy them? 20,000 Trintium comes in at about 1 billion credits.

They're actually very slow. My Phantom can outrun my fleet carrier with ease.

But your ship can't carry all of your ships, modules, etc with you at the same time as well as give you a place to sell your data, store ore you mine and turn in biologics you find.

More likely I'll take the best part of six months travelling to Colonia to unlock the engineers there
I have no idea why anybody does that. Never been there. Never plan to. The engineers around the Deciat area are all I need to fully engineer any ship.

I assume thats credits and not tons...
That seems more likely as that would come to 22,011 tons @ 50,000 credits per ton. Still pushing the limit though if he has any modules installed at all...which he would have to if anybody goes with him. He'd have to have service/refuel/repair and shipyard available or nobody could go with him.

I think he just got number happy.

On the engineers, indeed you can set up your ships very well with the engineers in the bubble, as indeed I have my main ship pretty well engineered, with most modules upgraded to grade three, four or five, however with some of the modules they cap out at grade three or four in the bubble and you HAVE to go to Colonia to bring them to max rank (for shield boosters or shield banks at least) and IF I ever decide to play in Open mode, I'm not going there until I get all my modules up to grade five! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ©²πŸ˜€πŸ€˜ .

Also I'm currently working to unlock surely the hardest and most grindy engineer, Selene Jean, for her armour upgrades, so I'm not ready to leave the bubble quite yet! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ˜€πŸ€˜ .

See more on my efforts to unlock her here:- https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/painite-in-the-asp-indeed.613372/ πŸ˜€πŸ€˜ .

Indeed as said, you can upgrade most things to grade five in the bubble there are one or two things that you have to go to Colonia, certainly with either shield boosters or shield banks, I think the former
And you're wrong on both.

Shield boosters to G5 is Didi Vatermann in Leesti. Shield Generators at G5 Lei Chung in Laksak.

I checked again, it's shield banks that you can only upgrade over grade three in Colonia:- https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/wiki/Mel_Brandon ...

(Also it seems shield banks cap out at grade four and not five for some reason?! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚)

And I believe one or two things more - I'll need to make a trip or three out that far if I'm ever going to get to elite rank in exploration, as the longest trip I took so far, going circa 8000 light years and back didn't give me half as much rank as I thought it would! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ©²πŸ˜€πŸ€˜ .

You mean Shield Cell Banks.

I don't use them. Even if I did there wouldn't be any practical reason to engineer them. And even if I did I could use Lori Jameson and get them to G3, so not worth a 24,000 LY trip one way to get one more level of engineering on a module seldom if ever used.

Again, there is NO REASON to go to Colonia at all for any ship engineering.

They make a big difference for survivability in combat, though without engineering they generate so much heat that if you use the larger ones without deploying a heat sink at the same time, they'll damage your ship, meaning you have to give up at least one shield boosters or other utility slot for heat sinks (which I don't generally use)...

However with engineering they recharge your shields more and crucially, allow you to use the bigger ones safely without cooking yourself!

Indeed I didn't use them for a long time, not thinking they'd make much difference (and indeed at a time I really hadn't used or unlocks many, if any engineers), however once I used some banks with grade one upgrades, I realised how good they are and that I had earned several surely avoidable deaths when I wasn't using them...

Since I started using them about three years ago, I haven't died once!
(Also surely helped by the fact that I was also flying a now pretty tricked out Anaconda that I was slowly improving with various engineers for most of that time! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ©²πŸ˜€πŸ€˜.)

Anyway, now I won't fly anywhere without at least a class four bank equipped and normally two or three class five or six banks as well - although even with engineering I doubt anyone can use a class seven or eight (if the latter exists) without a heatsink, as even at around grade 3, the class six bank still gets you pretty toasty, just not enough to damage you! πŸ˜€πŸ€˜ .

I use Bi--weaves and have never had an issue. I don't do PvP, so shield cell banks are of no use at all. They just use up slots better used for other things.

And heat isn't an issue if you properly engineer your power plant and distributor regardless of what you run. My FDL can burn every weapon wide open non-stop and never get above 60. Same with my Corvette, Krait Mk II, Chieftain and Challenger.

Each to their own, though as said, I and many others swear by them!

Indeed since they are optional slot items they don't compete with a lot of other useful things, for example other than hull reinforcement modules (which cap at class five for some silly reason) and a fighter bay, there isn't much else useful for combat over them! πŸ˜€πŸ€˜ .

Pilot, I didn't understand you a bit, is this a joke or is there official data? Will the game live on the PS5 console ?
