Gold rush!!

What's with all the gold floating around in space? Went to an anarchy system, the one that ends in 132 I think and I patrolled between planets looking for pirates but most of the signals I investigated turned out to be cargo most of which were gold. Seriously in about 5 minutes I made more money than in several hours as a humble fish trader!

An anarchy should be a no go zone for all but the brave and very well armed like it was in the original Elite not a jackpot bonanza like it is at the moment! This is on solo by the way so it's not other players dropping gold.

it will be like that when the balance will be found ;)
currently enjoy and i am petty sure that in future finding gold will be harder there ;)

Sometimes there may be pirates around the gold, sometimes a few appear when you scoop one, sometimes there's none and the gold is all yours...

I think it's just a temporary thing tbh. It seems they have deliberately made the game mind numbingly easy so that new players can hop in and test the various features quickly. In any case, I wouldn't recommend trade until you can afford atleast a Lakon 6. Anything less than that and you're better off jacking gold out of uss's or raiding the nav beacons for juicy cargo.

I've noticed that you'll get more gold, more often, with less likelihood of pirates arriving after if you go in a sidewinder... if you go in a hauler or viper, you can take more back, but you have a greater chance of not finding it, or it being a trap and then the cobra will be harder to find gold still, but with 32 tons you can make a cracking earning if you fill right up. Can take hours though.

Not seen any gold in anything bigger than that so far (but havent spent much time looking) so if you're after gold, do it in a viper to earn up as quick as possible.

If you want a challenge, do it in a cobra and don't cash in until you have 32 tons. Feels great when you do it. Can't be bothered to trade anymore, although this is not liekly to get me a type 9 very quickly if I'm honest.

i often get 3 cobra's jumping in as i'm about to scoop the first can, its not hard to kill them but costs me about 10% hull, that reactive stuff is expensive :D

the good thing is after the first lot your clear, but its really easy to lose the cargo during the fight, once it drifts off the radar you'll never find it again.

This is on solo, so when you went to sell the gold in Freeport there wasn't a pair of pirate Anaconda's waiting to snipe you as you tried to squeeze into the station at breakneck speed.

I think I pancaked over a half a dozen Haulers trying to dogfight and dock at the same time in Open play. :D
