Goldilocks zone.

Exploring is not the most profitable career in Elite Dangerous and explorers don't do it because of the credits, but since you are there anyway, why not get some ingame currency?

The most profitable things are Black Holes, Neutron Stars, ELW, Ammonia Worlds and Water Worlds. But there is a kind of planet that gives a decent amount of money and are much more abundant: Terraformable canditates.

In my last (very long) trip I was adding them to a table to help me define the Circumstellar Habitable Zone aka Goldilocks zone. After a while I was able to predict pretty accurately if the planet was Terraformable or not.

I am sure with the new Journal logs in 2.2 this kind of tables will be way easier to make and more complete, but here is a starting point:

There are only planets in single star systems, to prevent the heat from other sources to affect the calculations, so keep in mind if you find another star pretty near the main one, this table is almost useless.

And yes, I am aware of the great app made by Jackie, but I found it to be faster just searching for the start type in the table.

I'm updating my calculator to a much more usable version at the moment - the last released version can handle binary systems but struggles with highly-multiple systems (due to the lack of in-game information if nothing else; by the time you've gotten enough data on a widely-spaced, highly multiple system you might as well just visit the planets anyway...); there are quirks to how ED calculates the habitable zones in multiple systems (and some single systems, for that matter) so it's often enough the case that you just have to visit to be sure! :)

I've been hoping for enough api hooks to pull the data from the game in real-time and feed that into the calculator but I don't think we're at that point yet, so I'll go ahead and release the new calculator soon and see how people get on with it. It's all on a single page now and updates as soon as you change variables so it's a lot more convenient.

High metal content / terraformable worlds are a god send for steady income. And represent future terraforming efforts with future mechanics yet to be introduced into the game outside of community goals
