Gone and ordered a CV1!

OK I was planning to wait until the end of year before looking at a HMD, but I just couldn't stand reading all the posts in here about how awesome an experience it is anymore and I've folded like a cheap suit!

Estimated shipping is August, but I'll need a new GPU as well so that gives me time to see how the prices and availability for the 1070/1080 pans out so thats probably not a bad thing.

I wont lie I'm pretty excited though even knowing its at least 2 months away, I'll have to console myself reading about all your experiences in the mean time!

You'll survive 2 months, many of us waiting 5 years - or more!

Indeed! Although to be fair I think most of us have been waiting that long in reality. Its awesome that its finally arrived :)

Cheers! Yes good idea probably best I spend some time with the wife and kids before the inevitable ugly divorce :D

To be honest the only reservation I had was whether it was worth waiting for a price drop or the possibility of a CV2. But then in this business you can say that with everything and you'd never buy anything! I think I'll just enjoy it now and to hell with it :)

Just follow Ren's Steps to Avoid A Rift Induced Divorce-
1. Make sure she plays the demo app, Dream something or other...
2. Download Lucky's Tale. Or whatever its called. Broads probably love that. :eek:
3. Replace the stock headphones with good, noise cancelling digital surround gaming headphones. You'll need these to drown out the world. And family members.
4. Devise a method of communication while you are in the Rift. Remember, you can't see and won't be able to hear them. I make mine knock on my desk, I can feel the vibrations and know that some sort of non linear analog communication is heading my way.

Follow these steps and there is a 45% chance you will have a healthy and stable home life.

Or you could ignore my unlicensed, unqualified advice and have even better chances at success.

But you'll love the CV1. I just got mine a couple of days ago.
I cant image ED any other way.

STARSHOT - if you're based in the US, you can just walk into your local Best Buy and pick one up. No need to wait. I posted about that a week or so ago. They don't put them on shelves so you have to call your local BB to find out which store carries them locally (they can check each others inventory). On the day I called there were 4 in stock at a store near me (out back), and 1 in another store nearby.
