Engineers Gone In 60 Seconds!!!

I have a fully kitted out Python.

Went to a Combat zone to have a little fun.

Both factions had about even numbers.

I joined 1 of them.

6 ships attacked me at the same time (only cobras) - sheilds gone in 20 seconds

thrusters and FSD gone in 40 seconds

dead in 60 seconds

combat is way out of balance and has made ED a lot less fun.

Let me know your thoughts.
 
Trere is a specific sub-forum for this created by the mods because they were sick to death of loads of these coming up, so just a fore-warning your thread may be locked, maybe go post it in there thread?
 
Don't feel bad, the collector limpets are gone in less time than that. No material identified, just mining and releasing collector limpets and BAM! "Collector Limpet Expired" Release and again, "Collector Limpet Expired" Started with 90 Limpets - 1 Rock later 70 Limpets - 1 for the prospector. 19 Limpets for 40 pieces? Come on! This is rediculous.

This is a CZ issue rather than a general AI issue. CZs still prioritize players over any other targets; with the new AI changes, that should probably be modified.
 
git gud.. also get Point defense and last but not least if yaour dogfighting skills are that bad fly with a wingamn or two.. ist time to Team up for some Players...

agreed - AI needs a nerf

What if the ones you team up with are even worse than you? Maybe you are right though and solo/single player should be removed? Make it multi-player only?

the People that liked the AI before 2.1 can not be taken serious it was mindnumbing and I could stay 10 hours straight in RES farming how stupid was that. Now ist at least a tidbit better and therefore more fun! Still doesnt feel like an accomplishment for me as it is still easy - not sure ho wbad ones skills have to be to disagre...

if all u want is an iwin button without required skill than maybe try some other game... since I gre up with the industry games were always much arder than todays expeirnces I grew up with arcade games and i made my coins worth my Money...
 
6 ship gank, yep that's working well devs?
sorry but not true! i played high intensity RES today for like 8 hours and you do not get ganked by 6 ships! OP is exegersating cause he sucks.. only way to get a 6 ship gank is if you are hostile to the System due to different Powerplay faction!

I doubt it, by your typing i'd be surprised you are more than 12yrs old. Even more that you actually did stay in a Res for 8 hours.

To op:
Apparently there is a patch coming up within 6 days that will rebalance the AI and tweaks a few things, as well fix a few bugs [If i'm not mistaken the thargoids not wielding Meta-Alloys was a bug.] So just sit tight!
 
I sympathise with the OP, as I also quickly discovered that the new AI can be very challenging now and we all have to rethink our strategies and loadouts.

Whilst I am OK with the updated tactics used by the NPC's, for me, the main issue is that they are using modified/upgraded weapons which most of us have not had the opportunity to get at this early stage. Perhaps FD should have staged the supply of these latest weapons over a few weeks to allow for a reasonable number of players a chance to upgrade and give players time to adjust. I would bet that a lot of players have been reaquianted with the rebuy screen since 2.1 went live!!

Its not only combat in RES and CZ that can be dangerous, you need to be alert at all times doing missions - I was on a smuggling mission last night and was surprised by a interdiction in a Python (Dangerous) which scanned as a "Mission Target". I guess that if I took him out then my reward would increase. Too bad I never got the chance as the initial onslaught of different coloured weapons dropped the shields in my A rated Python before I could react. This left me no choice but to High Wake out with hull approaching 50%.

Overall i am very impressed with the great work done by FD in the latest patch, it actually feels like a new game/sim now and the new features are amazing.

I really think that the changes to NPC's was a positive one and it was probably needed, but it feels to me like they have gone a bit too far in one upgrade, especially the use of "engineered" weapons.

Fly safe out there (if you can!!) and watch your six.

Ow come on, this is ridiculous!!! Since 2.1 was released I was interdicted 7 times, only by ELITE NPC, with highly OP equipment, come on! How many CMDR's are Elite? 15%?, and 100% NPC are Elite now(aparently).

It´s impossible to survire if you face a Python, a Gunship or FDL Elite NPC now. They are waaayyy overpowered, they dont miss the fixed weapons shots, come on.

I dont have a problem if Frontier raise the difficult 50%, but in my opinion they raised like 500%.

People may say, well, if you make the engenieers upgrades you will be ok, but I see it as a optional part of play, I dont HAVE to make all engenieers upgrades in order to survive a combat against a Viper MK IV.

You that if you target something it will use up the limpet, but if you just let it roam it takes like 15 minutes to expire. Basic mining there.

Where are you people finding these completely overpowered AIs? I have been flying around in an asp with little to no shields, 2 burst lasers and some missiles, and a hold full of expensive stuff. Nobody is bothering me at all. What am I doing wrong?
 
Try taking some painite out of a pristine ringed gas giant in a python and you will attract NPC's like flies to...well you get the picture.
