Newcomer / Intro Gone Trading...

Hi!

I often read about ppl making a lot of money with trading and i started wondering of i'd be able to do the same on my own.

Until yesterday i was BH in Res with my vulture. Depending on the spawns i made between 1 and 2 Million per hour.

Now i took the money and got myself a Type 7. Sold the weapons and shields, upgraded the FSD, cargo racks and some minor class upgrades mainly to lower my mass. After that I bought some commodities with high supply and found myself a system where that commodity is sold to, Went there and made a smahsing profit of 35k... Thats about the bounty a get from am master-level Viper in ~2 minutes... not very satisfying.

At this point i alread decided it was too much of a hassle to compare the prices myself so i checked the internet for trading tools and endet up at Thrudd's. It gave me a nice route where i can buy and sell in both directions. having a total profit of ~300k per tour... That is better than 35k but it feels still lower than what i made from BH.

My question now: am i missing something? are there better tools or is the whole idea of "both way traiding" bad and i should just buy what i find at my current station and get a good one to sell it to? Or is Bounty hunting just so much more profitable than trading now? I heard some patches shortly before i bouoght the game made BH much more valuable.

With a T-7 hauling 200T doing a route at 2500cr/T/rndtrip you'll get 500k/rndtrip.

If you do 4/hr you'll get 2Mil/hr.

If you get a bit higher profit or do 5 runs per hr then you could get up to 2.5mil/hr.

If you work up to a 20LY Anaconda that can haul 452T then you get into 1Mil per round trip x 4 or 5 per hour so you can easily hit 4 - 6 mil per hour; if prices move up or you can squeeze 6 trips per hr. at 1.25 mil per trip you can hit as high as 7.5 Mil/hr.

Finding a good route with high supply and stable prices over the 2500cr per rnd trip mark is the key. Stations close to the star and a route within the range of you ship with one hop are also big factors in maxing the number of trips/hour.

Been working with T7 and Python (As can use medium, carry 250t and well armed for risky routes).
T7 working between stations, seem harder to find good trade route. Had it up to 1m an hr.
Python while a little more costly to get and outfit, much easier to find trade route as can use outposts. Currently have 520,000+ round trip that takes 18mins.

Dear GJ51...
Can you tell me what you are hauling to make 2500cr per t? My best price is a little over 1000 per t.

I don't expect a where...just a what.

He is saying per round trip, so that could 1500 one way and 1000 the other which is a perfectly doable trade route.

he said 2500 Cr per round trip = at least devided with 2 = ca. 1250 cr per T... That's approx what you might have found allready... The real trick is more to find two stations with high enough suply and demands so you can actually use a T9 or anaconda for 4 hours without the prices Raising/dropping so much that your profit per Ton falls to like 7-800 cr per round trip.... ;)

The very best routes are done with the brain, Slopey's and Thrudds can give you decent ones, but not Grade A.
Not being condescending, I have never used my brain to get a good route. I tried for about 6 hours, then gave up and now use Slopey's. If it is 1200cr/t each way, I am more than happy, 1000 will do but it will make me grumpy.

The best round trip that i know of is 3.2k per ton. But that only lasts for 1-2 runs and goes down from then. I think that route is as good as it gets, very hard to find something like that. Usually a good route is about a steady 2.5k per ton. If it's a fast route (only 1 jump and stations close to sun) then 2k is already pretty good.

alright, I'm gonna sell my T7 again and save up to a python with BH, downgrading to a T6 doesn't appeal to me cause i have plenty of unused captial already while flying the t7 and it doesn't matter if i made 3000cr per t if i can only haul so few t in a tripp i make less in the end.
