Good Alliance home base location?

Hello CMDR’s,

I am thinking of moving my home base of operations to an Alliance system. I have been based in Cubeo for months now as I worked towards getting my Imperial Cutter. Now that I have my Cutter it is time to turn my back on the Empire Muahahaha!

The Alliance has a lot of appeal for me and I also anticipate more awesomeness from the Alliance in the future so I might as well lay the groundwork for that now. So I’d like the Alliance to be my more permanent home. What kind of system am I looking for?

My primary requirement is good haulage missions as I am a trader. I’d like to work towards getting Elite in trading. I want to fill my Cutter with haulage taking missions over 1MCr and looping through a few nearby systems ranking up with the factions there. Chelomey Orbital in Cubeo was great for this as I was always able to find good paying haulage missions to Bracewell Port in HIP 5700. But that’s the Empire and I have turned my back on them!

My secondary objecitive here is to get Friendly with the Alliance. I am not in a rush to do this so I don’t want to do donation and data missions. I want to primarily do this via trade with my Cutter, though I’ll do some sight seeing missions every once and a while for a change of pace.

I’ve been puttering around Ethgreze and 78 Ursae Majoris but nothing seems to be clicking there yet. I am only allied with Alioth Independents though, do these systems get better if I stick it out?

Any suggestions from experienced Alliance CMDR’s?

Thanks!

Hello CMDR’s,

In that case I recommend CE Bootis - a nice Alliance dictatorship (Allied CE Bootis Defense Force). That way the transition from imperial boot kissing to alliance boot kissing won't be so dramatic.

Not sure how good the trading opportunities are in that region. Doesn't matter I guess, sooner or later you will want to spread human rights and democracy by supporting cooperations and dictatorships.

Check out Wolf 397. I've been there for awhile now but basically only doing scanning missions but might have what you need. I'm allied there and have a few ships there.

In the Lave Cluster: Lave, Diso, Leesti, Reorte, Zaonce, Tionisla, etc.

-There's 8 rare commodities within about a 25 ly radius around that area.
-All the systems are close together and have shipyard and outfitting options. If you can't find what you need in one system, head to a different one.
-Lots of trade markets
-A white dwarf nearby at Morten-Marte, only a couple jumps away
-A couple of jumps away from the Founder's World
-Sits on a crossroads of Federal/Imperial/Alliance space
-Pristine mining areas nearby

anticipate more awesomeness from the Alliance in the future so

I also moved here for the same reason.
I would suggest the Alioth area. The image shows my current haulage missions. Also the blue markers show the systems that I'm am allied with.
I have been picking up 3-4 mil. 1 jump haulage for a while. I can not guaranty it will be the same for you. System state and your faction influence will come into play.

Thanks for the helpful reply! 3-4MCr with the right faction states sounds good. That’s the kind of numbers I was seeing in Cubeo. I’ll continue to be patient in this area and keep my eyes peeled and get allied with all the factions I can here. Have some rep!

Sounds like the area I’m in around Alioth could be very lucrative if I am patient. However, this sounds like a fantastic spot as well! I am going to add this to my game notes and definitely put this area on my todo list. Thanks and please have some rep.

If you don't plan on playing the BGS for a specific faction, just come over to Alliance space, it's much bigger than it used to be and you will find a home sooner or later just by hopping around.

If you want to come in contact with other commanders every now and then, the two central points of the Alliance are Alioth and the Lave Cluster. The further you move from those the less traffic and vice versa.

If you are looking for a quiet place to find some tranquillity and push an Alliance faction, there's plenty of worlds that appreciate all the help in the outer parts. One example would be HIP 79152.

If you want to start in an area with almost no Alliance around and build your own bubble slowly, try Lie Zip.

Allied CE Bootis Defence Force is my pet faction. I am a member of AEDC. I have been working the faction for a little bit now and rather not have someone messing with it. But if someone wants to, by all means join the elite alliance discord or AEDC discord to get in touch with me. Cheers

Here is some advice that was giving to me before I had Elite trade rank and the advent of the passenger mission.

1. Pickup all the haulage mission you can.
2. If cargo space remains, open up the eddb.io single route planer and enter your current location and then the next mission location.
See what they need. Even if its not the best haulage (usually Biowaste) it will start adding up.
3. Every where I went I was always referencing this web page for haulage info.
4. If you are working on reputation gain with a faction then do data currier missions (reputation gain is medium) but use step 2 and 3 to use up your cargo space.

https://eddb.io/trade/single

Keep on trucking [smile]

Thanks for the heads up. Read Masark’s trading guide on reddit many moons ago and eddb.io is always on my iPad when I play. I always fill my hold when the board runs dry and often can make an extra 400-800k doing that in my Cutter.

Heh, the biggest dumb mistake I made when working on my Imperial rank using these methods was that I assumed that taking missions from non-Imperial factions would hurt my Imperial rep, which I later found out was flat wrong. I don’t want to think about how much money I left on the table because I was only taking missions from Imperial factions even though other factions had missions going to the same destination.

While my grasp of how to get reputation is solid now, one area where my knowledge is weaker is how to best leverage the various system states (boom is obvious, but war, famine, etc.) to boost my profits and likelihood of the best haulage missions.

Ross 128.
Can confirm.

But there's been lots of good suggestions.
Lave cluster is definitely good.
Tellus is convenient especially for PowerPlay.
Alioth for homeworld kudos.
Wolf 397 - isn't that the Alliance engineer who does Multi Canons?
Darwin Research Facility out in the California Nebula gives good passenger missions, and there's barnacles and other content out there.

I was there for a while. There are short loop tourist missions for 3-4 mil each. They all go to the same place. I stacked them in my orca and was making ~30-40 mil an hour.

Problem there is Darwin Research doesn't have a ship yard, but there is a planetary base that does.

Yeah we had a CG to build that ship yard, but it was long haul trading (like 40 jumps, even 50 for some folks) so it really only has the basics.
You have to set up ships back in the bubble and have them transported out.
But you can pick up all sizes of luxury cabins at Mahon Research Base and Mic Turner Base.
I keep a beluga parked at Ford for when I need to replenish the war chest. And you get to run missions for Turner Reseacrh Group to Mic Turner Base so it's good Aliance Role Play out there.
