Good and Bad

Elite is the type of game where there is no good or bad people just bad decisions.
Even pirates could be smuggling goods into a planet in order to help the population so I feel that for every type of mission that there should be a counter mission for someone to take up if they wish , for instance there will be plenty of passenger transportation missions but every now and again you will get an assassination mission (against npc rather than players) or halt their progress so that they don't meet their deadline (mainly against players) etc
Are there any missions that shouldn't have an opposite associated mission? - I can't think of any, it just depends on what direction you want to go.

Difficult to answer. And I do not know if I really understand what you mean ...
I think most things in life have a double face. So hard to find a mission that is not associated with its opposite. However, transports missions, of the sick, of the wounded, of the missions of firemen, should not have missions in opposition. Your words, above, made me think of something. Even if it's off topic. Indeed, in Frontier, I used to transport passengers, and during the travel I was doing detour to kill a person. Sometimes I had to follow my target in another system. After completing my assassination mission, I could finally get my passengers to their destination. But it was too late and sometimes a passenger told me: "It's too late, you will not get paid." And he disappeared without paying.

Transporting aid could have an opposing mission to stall aid and transporting the sick could have an assassination as the first one didnt quite succeed (depending on who is sick, you wouldnt want to assassinate everyone who is ill but in saying that, if they are refugees, another system could become so inundated that they cannot support all those extra people and therefore ask for assistance (mission) in diverting the sick to another system).

Why would you want to take a passenger to an asassination attempt, surely they will complain about the terror, mental anguish etc and you may not get another passenger as people will see you as unreliable.

I kind of get what you are getting at.

I used to love the prison drop missions where you had to first of all get a permit and you could sweet talk the contact into giving you one.

Deliver a prisoner to this jail system (aka Riddick style) but this could attract the prisoners criminal fraternity or even a vigilante to come after you, giving you a dialogue option to hand over or stick to your mission, defend your honour and do the job you took on.

Ohhh I hope this is part of the game...

I'm not sure they would even notice the minor detour let alone know what was happening !

The reason:

I think that passengers are in a state of hibernation/sleep during the travel between the destinations, so they'll just "wake up" and find that the date they have arrived is don't match the date they were supposed to have arrived and therefore the transporter will forfeit any bonuses or payment due to the transporter didn't fulfil his/hers part of the agreement in the contract.

Exactly, In Frontier, my passengers were never complain about my assassination missions during travel.
