Also make sure the ambassadors hit gameinformer and IGN press and spread the word. Make sure Angry Joe gets a copy to preview he loves space sims and strategy! I'm tired of reading about all these lame games announced and nothing about ED. Get mobile and mix it up with all the press. I want to see multiple page previews on ELITE DANGEROUS. Not enough hype out there. Anyways good luck fellas and have fun at E3! Wish I was there with you guys :D

Actually, why don't we hype it closer to release or after release, because if we do it now, we might have an influx of grumpy, whiny people that are overwhelmed by the 'complexity' of a game having no clear goal other than what you yourself set.

Or how about it doesn't get hyped at all - and just gets released on the merits of it's own qualities :)

There's something very special here, it doesn't need exaggeration or overstatement to make it interesting. Advertise it - surely, but never hype it.

I think it's in FD's best interest to pitch (or "hype) the IP to potential investors.

More funding and more incentive for FD to release a finished product in an agreeable timescale. I speculate that the Kickstarter had most of it's quality shine through as an indicator of the public desire for Elite as well as a small chunk of funding (1.5mil isn't really that much as we all unfortunately know)

And of course more Let's Player's = More beta backers, which in turn = MOAR MONIE YAR (They want refunds? Let them eat cake!)

SC LP's are very popular so far. I'd like to see more big LPers pick this up.

Oh and snicker all you want but it was Scott Manley who introduced E: D to me. $150 later and I am glad for it.

Plus I've never gotten this involved with a video game before, going onto the forums, watching the FD business affairs... Heck even staying up to date with the newsletters!

Oh SC just released a new ship commercial? That's cool... Meh

No. Please no.

Right now I see E: D as a vision. A dream that Mr Braben und Mr Bell had some 30 years ago and that Mr Braben now wants to make coming true. He is sharing this dream with a handfull of people who started gaming back then, and who still are stuck there.

Investors don't give a damn about small groups and visions, their job is to maximize return on capital invested. They are the guys who wanted 3 lives and a highscore list back then, and who would now complain that this game has a very steep learning curve, not much instant gratification, and that the core group of gamers, that is young men in their teens and early twenties just don't "get" the game.

As a private investor I disagree. What you said sounds like a publishing house, not an interested and keen investor.

I doubt Braben would completely alter the game to appease a few investors. They should be looking at the game *as is* and not "Well I won't give you money until you make docking easier"

I doubt that. Lot's of us are infatuated with this game and I think it shows.

Plus I doubt you've looked into FD's internal affairs lately. They're improving with the overtime pay but even still most developers have to work unpaid overtime, and they get pretty much free tea and cookies, and a fast food meal if they do work OT. That's not a sign of managerial stability, and Braben is partly to blame.
