Welcome CMDR's,

A few months ago I mentioned that Frontier were up for an award at the BAFTA awards for Evolving Game 2017 with Elite Dangerous. The awards are given out tonight and you can watch the ceremony at: https://www.twitch.tv/bafta starting at 4:30PM BST. <-- Ask Cosmo what time that is as he corrected the time for me! :D

Now this also opens up the debate about how Elite is evolving especially with 2.3 being so close to dropping on the live servers... Your thought's please CMDR's.

ED has always been billed as evolving over time going forward from release.

Whether the judges consider the details of each of our expansion phases as worthy of the term I guess we'll find out, only because causally looking at it from a cockpit view as it were, might not at first glance seem that evolutionary despite the complexities underneath.

I would love Frontier and ED to be recognised however, particularly as the first public showing of ED in 2014 was the BAFTA games event.

Elite Dangerous should win, it's had several updates with major improvements since the release two years ago and it has a 10 year road map.

10 year road map?...unfortunately it appears my gf is reading it & giving directions...perhaps Frontier should get a Tom Tom!

It's not enough they've had to create a category for "Best unfinished product pawned off on trusting gamers using vague promises this year."

Now people want to go and award a game that can't even be bothered to finish any of the promises it DID make.

You beat me to it Bran, but yes very best of luck to both Elite Dangerous and Planet Coaster. Shame Elite isn't up for an audio award too as I still think the biggest crime is that it has never won one for it.


I would say that Elite is evolving at the pace I thought it would do. I think that the "Seasons" has misled things a bit in terms of their length, but in terms of the major update patches I think that it's been reasonable. Especially when you consider how cost effective the expansion has been for us and the fact there's no subscription to pay.

Obviously the only real problem is the complete lack of any additional exploration mechanics in the last 29 months! For the love of all that is holy 2.4 needs to have something!
