PvP Good PA mods for a Vulture.

Ohoy lords of the underworld.

I'm currently dusting of an old PA Vultre, to get it up to 3.0 standard.

It has two G5 efficient PA(not APA), with no specials.

I want to keep the PAs, but I don't know if I should keep the efficient? Thinking of one phasing and one TLB. Not sure if that is smart either?

I would enjoy the extra shot speed of long range / focused, but I have no idea if it's worth the extra heat and distro draw?

Are you shooting NPC's or players? If NPC's, go with the special that gives you the damage increase. If players, tlb on one, dispersal on the other.

I'll shoot at what comes my way. Probably mostly NPCs but the damage is plenty for them either way, so I save the specials for players.

I only shoot players that are wanted or annoying and not certain to kill me. :D

The extra shot speed of focused/long range aren't worth the downsides?

Long Range is one of my most favorite PA mods. Shot speed increase is excellent, and with the changes to 3.0, you should easily be able to handle the downsides. Don't really need to G5 those either if you don't want to. G4 is plenty good.

It really depends on your style and capabilities. If you have problems with aiming or keeping range, Focused/Long Distance used to be the "bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" option. Though, I'm not sure how the heat is on the 3.0 versions of those mods. If you're solid at aiming and good at holding a vector under fire, Efficient is your rule of thumb "go to" choice because there are no downsides. For example, on my Chieftain I use a pair of c3 OC PA's, the upside being massive damage increase, the downside being blistering heat levels when being spammed. I use 5x Efficient on my Falter mirror Gunship, tlb/tlb/dispersal/oc/oc as a comparison.

Ultimate advice is what Jason's getting at here: mod up whatever you want and try it in the field. Efficient and Long Range are two great places to start.

I used legacy Long Range PA's that had a huge secondary heat debuff that I'm under the impression isn't possible now. What are focused/long range like in the new system?

I'm pretty sure this is accurate:

Long Range: https://inara.cz/galaxy-blueprint/123/

Focused: https://inara.cz/galaxy-blueprint/88/

The Thermal Secondaries are no longer possible which have made a lot of people sad. That said, I'm not so sure we should be saying RIP Long Range. Why? Power plants! Armoured and Low Emission plants can get crazy efficient.

From what I understand, Thermal Load on weapons only matters when you pull the trigger - on the other side is how fast your ship can shunt that heat out. Beyond that, nearly everything has an integrity experimental available so you can always shore up your weak points.

Gotta build holistically, you know?

Anyway, these thoughts are just based on my own knowledge and experience. Corrections welcome.

INARA does not list the shot speed increase on focused. Both ED-shipyard and Coriolis says it has the same speed as long range.
Who is right?

On a vulture you probably will want to go efficient. Overcharged/Focused consume too much power (the vulture is quite limited)

Use a Guardian powerplant or G5 overcharged powerplant and you can use focused/long range on a Vulture without problems.

Worst problem with the Plasma Accelerators is that you can't get a thermal reduction secondary any more as I wrote here...
Therefore newly engineered ones are dead for any meaningful PvP use sadly.

I beg to differ as Efficient Plasmas are quite effective in PVP. Even more so in 3.0

Providing you can hit with them :p

Wut? Efficient PAa is the PvP meta, and been like this for almost a year.

Ok, let me rephrase my statement as I'm truthfully not known for any meaningful PvP anyways :D

Newly engineered PAs are objectively worse than old ones with good secondaries.

I think the only mod that that statement would fall under would be focused plasma. The 3.0 rolls have lost the thermal reduction secondary.

Efficent and Overcharged have been buffed A LOT. They are vastly superior to 2.4 plasma.

I love the OC for a Chieftain build. 2x large hit like a mule kick.

So apparently Thermal Conduit Increases damage when the heat level is over 100%. In theory it is said that it does double damage. So imagine 2x overcharged plasma with Thermal Conduit and Premium ammo on top. Oh how the salt will flow.

I will have to try this
