You can only accept missions, which you can actually take - you'll also see mission on the board ("offered"), which you can't take.

Yup, but if you get to the 'target' of a mission and cannot hand in (cannot see it) then you've probably received cargo awards that haven't left space for your new rewards - check your 'missions' tab. And you will forget this advice about once a week (or at least I do )

Ok, so if I were to try because of my stupidity, the game won't allow me to, it is aware on my ships abilities better than I am, and thus won't allow me to accept it, correct. Cool, just a noob trying not to upset the status quote and get in trouble in the process. Latter maybe, MUCH latter. LOL

You will also see underneath a list of missions that you can't take with the reason why highlighted in red.

yeah ... i don't like it at all. i mean, i can understand to some extend that you need to have 180T of cargo to accept a 180T of cargo delivery mission (but why can't i pick the mission, and bring my trader over?), but it is beyond me why i'm not allowed to pick up a mining mission for 9T of osmium as long as i'm sitting in my combat ship with 4T of cargo (4T for mission reward commodities) .... shouldn't it be my problem to outfit my ship for mining or get another one so i can fullfill my contract?
