I've recently got an ASP and I'm looking to do some trading with it. I hear that the biggest margins can be found trading gold and palladium, but where can i find the best prices of those commodities?

I do not think anybody is going to tell you that info as it will cut into their profit margins

Look for very high population wealthy refinery systems. They have the cheapest gold.
Ask a question with an obvious answer, and the likeliest answer you will receive is the obvious one... and its CMDR Obvious.
This is not exactly true, you have to look at your credits per ton / time. You can make 1000/ton with almost everything above 5000c if you buy and sell right.
Now you have to find a good trade circle where you can buy and sell without losing to much time aka empty jumps. Final step, do your math, stop your time and get your income per hour. Whatever gets you the highest income per hour is the winner.

you also need to find the right system to sell them at, i find high pop high tech pay well for either but your return journey may not be as profitable.
my route takes in a high pop high tech system and an agricultural/refinery system. the high tech sells progenitor cells at a good price that i take to the agricultural station for a little over 900 Cr a tonne, from there its across the system with a hold full of animal meat at about 350 per tonne from the refinery and then back to the high tech system that gives around 1100 per tonne profit on palladium.
