Good time to buy 980ti?

I've been playing with my vive on my 970, but the visual fidelity is bearable at best.

The 980ti has about the same performance as the 1070, except half the price (~$225 dollars on ebay)

Was wondering how significant the boost would be and whether it would be worth the plunge.

I upgraded from a 970 to a 1080 last year and it was a BIG difference.

The jump from 970 to 980Ti is almost as big and i would say well worth it.

The most important gain is the ability to run supersampling which makes everything so much sharper and clearer.

For that price its an honest bargain.

Not sure what functions the 10 series have that the 9 series don't (if any) but one of my rigs has a 980ti in it and I can play in VR flawlessly. It is a great card and a nice step up from a 970.

It's absolutely great value these days.

I'm not sure vr performance is flawless in elite, but honestly quite close.
For instance it has a decent amount of ram, and elite uses A LOT of ram in vr,
But there are optimization in vr for the Pascal, that this can't use.
But elite doesn't really utilise any of them, and won't for a rather long time either, at least not the next few years.

And nything not vr related it has chewed up anything I throw at it.

For instance I often play the new doom, at 3440×1440, just hit the ULTRA button and I never diplayed below 60fps, well actually 80+.

I paid full price for mine nearly a year and a half ago, due to RL and 900£ is serious money I'm not upgrading it yet.

Also in vr I was being cpu throttled a bit with this on an i5, having just upgraded to an i7.
