Hardware & Technical Good time to Upgrade Video Card to 1060 or 1070 ?

Hi all, I have a few questions.

1. Does Elite Dangerous need much more than a GTX 1060 6 GB (in a year or two) ? I'm using a GTX 770 2 GB and it looks pretty good, has decent FPS for now. I'm wondering if ED is going to be much more demanding for Graphics in the near future.

2. Is now a good time to buy a Video Card ? Will it be a while before the next generation of GTX come out ? Any point in waiting ?

3. 1060 6 GB vs 1070 8 GB : If you just play CS:GO and Elite Dangerous, is a 1060 6 GB going to be plenty of Graphics power for quite a while ?

4. Is this system worth Upgrading the Video Card ?
CPU = i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40GHz
RAM = 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical
GFX = EVGA GTX 770 (2GB)
MotherBoard = Gigabyte - Z87-D3HP
SSD = 250 GB Samsung
Power = EVGA B2 750

Thanks

If you are thinking of going for a VR or 4K monitor, eventually, then 1070 might be a better option in the long run.
Otherwise I think 1060 will be more than enough for a very long time. Frontier has a tendency to optimize stuff to run smoother and look better, rather than upping the requirements senselessly.

If you're happy with 1080p then a 1060 will be fine for a while. If you want to go for 1440p or even VR then a 1070 or even a 1080 will be what you'll need.

It may be better to wait for AMDs Vega GPUs to be released as this should drive prices down for the 1070/1080.

Thanks,
I forgot to ask about VR.

Is this system going to be able to handle VR decently with a Video Card upgrade ?
