Howdy folks, Im currently crossing the 626k light second void in Anduliga and pondering the evening festivities. Along with the new year in the real world, December rounds out my first year in Elite and I thought it would be neat to compile the stats of what I've done over the year. Its crazy to think I've racked up over 500 hours of playtime, I guess that not too bad spread out since December 2014 but damn. I suppose I have to thank the immersivness of the game for that. I think my purchase of a X55 Rhino also was a big part of it, this game with a HOTAS is just so much better imo. When I'm logging in after I work I can kind of imagine my pilot waking up, brewing some space coffee, and taking in some planet from a parking orbit.

I'm not super rich or anything, I could barely afford my anaconda a month ago. Looking at my assets, I've pulled down roughly 522k/hr in playtime. This seems amazingly high, I recall when I was first starting out it took me 4 hours to make 20k spacebucks, then I immediately lost it when I got scanned with rare artwork in my hold. I also have alot of blood on my hands having a little over 4 kills per hour with each of those kills paying out roughly 26k credits. I have only 2 insurance collections in that time frame, I'm pretty sure one was boosting inside the docking bay splatting my poor noobwinder. The second time was due to pirates, maybe I'm really good at pulling the brave Sir Robin.
Exploration was a big part of my early game days, I would have my crummy basic scanner and shoot across unexplored systems at multiples of C trying to find the pins of light that are moving against the background, it always felt great to find a lost star out there. After I cobbled up enough spacebucks for an Asp and A5 frameshift drive I wandered out into the black for roughly a month where roughly most of my exploration data has come from. Have to thank Obsidian Ant for that, his exploration videos were pretty entertaining to watch and inspired me to have my own. Crazy in that time frame I only made it 3600 light years away from LHS 3447. I still have my asp, I break it out occasionally for CGs and the like
I was surprised to see how much trading profits I had, its such a boring activity! and this comes from someone who likes exploring. It might be artificially high from participation in CGs. I defiantly remember grinding exploring to buy modules for my asp, I must have kept my eyes on the goal. I recall a conversation with a friend early on, my friend was interested in the game and asked me what I was doing. I told him I delivering space tea and now its forever space trucker in his mind lol.
Mining in this game has come a long way! Being a space miner has always appealed greatly to me, I loved the steady hums of the mining lasers in Eve. I have a friend who bought the game recently that enjoys mining, I told him about the manual drudgery it was until 1.3 popped up, then elated him with stories of 8 limpet drones all chasing the same ore fragment bouncing into roids then off my windscreen, poor buggers, I feel bad for them at times. I love mining in its current state though, so relaxing, blasting a roid and sipping coffee while the drones collecting all the goodies.
I've only barely dipped my toes into Horizons but I've loved what I've seen so far, watching my ship fly away and leave me alone on dead worlds is chilling. That space bending warp sound it makes when it jumps back in to pick me up is also really pleasant. I am greatly anticipating what new things the year is going to bring! On my to do list is picking up one of the new pieces of VR tech thats coming out, if I get sucked in on my little 1080 monitor I can't wait to see how something like an occulus makes me feel.
Anyways, would love to see the complied stats and stories of others! ^^ Happy new year.
