Hardware & Technical Got A New Monitor For Christmas ... But ....

..I received a Sceptre C32 for Christmas from my wife and she let me install it today. However even though sound from other games work fine with it I can not get sound from ED. I have Sound Blaster 5.1 sound card Logitech speakers. But I can not figure this out. Other games this works with are Assassins Creed Syndicate, Sims 4 and Diablo 3. But not with ED. Any ideas?

In the audio options menu in Elite, does it have options for headphones, speakers etc to choose from ?

This monitor is not equipped with built in speakers. The [audio in]
connection is used to transfer audio signal to the [audio out] port.

Are you using an hdmi interface? If so, look under playback devices and make sure no hdmi output is selected. Also make sure the correct default device is selected.

Thanks all. I selected my sound card I.e. Device and rebooted the computer. Now everything is working. As they always say, when in doubt, reboot. Now to get use to that monster.

Wow! Hooked up the monitor yesterday (barely fits on the monitor stand) and fired up ED. Max res (3440x1400), 100Hz, G-sync on, ultra setting, and proceeded to fly out to a local asteroid field to check out the view.

Everything looked really, really good until I started knife-fighting a few fast-movers. The increased FOV, even in a 'vette was just incredible. To the point of making me a bit dizzy/disoriented at first! Situational awareness (SA) was significantly improved.

I'll fire up my FDL today to see what that is like. I'll have a barf bag handy, just in case. :)

Ya might have to tune up the FOV slider in Graphics. I had to adjust mine a couple times to get the right perspective. Most notably when I was flying the iCourier the cockpit rings looked like ovals lol

As to the difference, running 4K is quite an improvement... but I do often find myself wondering if I should go back to 1920x1080 for now as most games don't even take advantage just yet.

Thanks, I'll try fiddling with that. I've always had it all the way to the right.
