Newcomer / Intro Got bored trading rares so garaged the transporter and spent 3M credits pimping a Viper

And now off hunting :)

No question, just felt like sharing :)

If it's just for hunting an A rated Viper is just as good if not better and a smaller target... and cheaper to replace if things don't go quite as planned:eek:

Not wanting to start another Cobra vs Viper thread you understand ;)

So I put turreted cannons on to break hulls and apart from the limited ammo they're very effective. It's a shame I can't seem to find anything better than gimballed beam lasers though to take down shields. The beams are good but thre must be something better, I just can't seem to find it.

Well, do you have your beams on the small or medium hardpoints?

If they're on the class 1 hardpoints, put them on the class 2. That would be an upgrade. Additionally, you should swap gimballed weapons for fixed - the fixed weapons do more damage; I'm given to understand that it's about 25% more.

The only other improvements would be railguns or plasma accelerators, but you're then looking at major power management issues.

Personally, I prefer 2 fixed class 1 beam lasers and 2 gimballed class 2 multicannon. My ship loadouts are in my sig.

I just did the same thing last night, but didn't spend that much on it. I've got fixed medium pulse and small gimballed multi cannons. I tried fixed cannons, gimballed cannons but they miss too often (or I miss). I tried my luck against an 80k Anaconda which was tough and ended up accidently ramming it towards the end which resulted in it's death and my hull at 14% and 5 minutes of Oxygen.
